He approaches his mother meekly ( as meekly as a man of his stature can ), ears flattened against his head as he holds a shattered porcelain cup. Despite the damage, it’s obvious he’s tried to piece it back together and glue the pieces back into place to the best of his ability, it’s just the thing is so damn… delicate. Sett’s shoulders sag slightly as he offers it to her, his voice comes quietly then.
“Sorry Ma… I broke it on the way out the other day,” his eyes glanced elsewhere, recalling how he’d bumped into the table the cup and the rest of the tea set lived, happily at that, till Sett barreled out the front door. It makes him cringe inwardly, blinking away the memory. “Thought I coulda fixed it but-- it don’t look too good; I could get ya a new set instead, if ya want?” Offering a small smile to her.
AT first there is a moment of concern that paints her face. whenever her son would approach her in such a way she was quick to note something had happened. even with his stature much larger than it once was all those years ago she still recognized these things almost instantaneously. the furrow on her brow and the sensation of momentary panic a mother always had when faced with her beloved child in such a manner lasted up until her eyes fixated on the cup.
there was a sigh, brief but full of the utmost relief, as she'd seen it wasn't anything too serious. the first thing she noticed was the efforts her son had put toward trying to piece it back together, but the next thing she looked for were any possible cuts and scraped upon his person from the darn thing. cups could be easily replaced, but there was only one settrigh that existed in this world. heri could never even begin to fathom the pain such an idea of losing him would bring.
but it was enough for worrisome what ifs and for now she focused on the present. with a huff of a low laugh she extended both of her hands to cup either side of her son's face and gave him a smile so tender and warm and full of every ounce of love she held for her child as to bring ease.
" oh, you silly boy." there came another chuckle as she removed her hands and using her index finger--careful to not use her claws--and poked his nose every so briefly. " i'm just relieved you aren't hurt. "
she then paused to laugh once more with a slight nod of her head to follow suit. " how about we go shopping for once together? that way it will make the new set all the more special as it will be one we picked out together? "
truly . . . she was grateful to have such a wonderful son.
