The Singularity (Working Title)

In a multiverse governed like a corporation, entire realities are ranked by usefulness.

Wealthy “connected” universes thrive on transport modules powered by crystal mined from poorer worlds, where exploited workers extract the resource that keeps everyone else moving. For people with low existential energy, those same modules cause a wasting disease called the Fade, a condition that is technically curable… but the cure is withheld to keep the population compliant.

Charlotte Ford doesn’t know any of that when the deaths start: versions of her, across reality, vanishing like someone is pruning the multiverse. The Bureau labels her a catastrophic risk and initiates Anchor Resolution, a cold procedural attempt to control the one thing they cannot predict.

But the truth is worse. Charlotte is converging toward her Anchor Body, the final point of return. If every other version of her dies, she becomes a Singularity: a one-of-one being with limitless existential energy and the power to break the multiverse’s rules.

A cult rises around the prophecy of the Final Return. A resistance decides she could be a weapon. The Bureau decides she must be contained. And Arthur Weir, a man who has watched the system destroy worlds in the name of “stability,” finds himself standing too close to the one person who could end it.

If Charlotte completes the Final Return, she will either free quadrillions upon quadrillions of lives… or erase them.
