I love hearing ESL folks talk about words like this. I knew a German guy who was surprised to learn that lettuce is pronounced “let-us” and not “letoose”. Makes me wonder what words I’ve said funny in other languages.
One thing that is hard to get used to is “robin”, as in the little bird, being pronounced like the first name Robin. I always want to pronounce them differently, so in my head the bird is pronounces “rohbin”.
I actually have a costume revision to make on this due to my own airheadedness, which is thematically appropriate I suppose, but this is WeenieTowne’s lovely Mir!
