Impact of weekly Bazzar in urban spaces
So I started with selecting the things I like doing, results were Riding, exploring the market, reading, listening to music and shopping. The topic among it which interested me was exploring the market. I brainstormed about what interests me in the market and they were that a market is a place where I spend money and get my desires fulfilled, every market has its own culture which differs them from one another and among them, the most interesting was how weekly market affect that area. Weekly markets are markets in which there are different commodities and you get it at a very nominal rate. In these market people of different economic background buy goods. They eliminate social discrimination. They are more accessible and more democratic. They enrich the space and bring people together. This market is open so it gives customers lots of option. On looking from shopkeepers point of view, it is easy to dismantle, there is less rent, selling volume is more important for them. Then I drafted my first line of inquiry i.e. Role of an informal bazaar in enriching urban spaces in India, then the feedback I got was why not remove enriching. Enriching urban spaces was an assumption that I was making and it will limit and would be a direct approach and I will be stuck eventually. The line of inquiry is something to be seen from the neutral side. What would be the interesting factor which will keep me interested in this topic for 16 weeks? Exploring and getting to know the life of the vendor better and making a relation with them Then I looked from a neutral point of view and came up with “Impact of Informal Bazaar in urban spaces in India” by informal bazaar I mean shops which don’t have a proper space, they can be shifted any time, anywhere, but this was not what I meant, so Informal became weekly and by urban spaces I mean where the rate of urbanization and industrialization is high, where there is fast life, which is densely populated and where there is a planned settlement. My final line of inquiry is “Impact of weekly Bazzar in urban spaces," So What? How are they enriching urban spaces, how do they bring people together, how they eliminate social discrimination? Next phase will be finding out the origin of weekly markets and evolution of it which will help me in mapping out the topic better and will open more directions for me to explore the topic and because of which I will be able to go deeper. The questions as of now I am looking forward to are what are these markets? What is the temporizes in it? How do people commence commerce? Why do people buy from here? Where are the vendors for the rest of the week? How are they enriching that space? How are they bringing people together? How do they eliminate social discrimination? How are they democratic?
