The illustration really does drive home the event that happened, in my opinion. It shows a single bird, surrounded by others. They are all the same, but one is obviously being targeted or singled out. And that is exactly what happened. It’s not that there is anything different about Justine, she is just like everybody else. But one small joke (although in bad taste) caused millions to turn on her. Millions of people that are probably just like her, and who I’m sure have made morally wrong jokes in the past themselves. So yes, the illustration does enhance the article, and it gives a great perspective on the situation.
Welp, this is late but I honestly did not know that there was a journal prompt last week.Â
This was originally filmed by me with cinematographic concepts in mind - as a result it does initially follow many rules of composition. The use of blood as the only coloured aspect of the image catches the viewers attention. It turns an almost “innocent” cartoon into something a little more eye-catching due to it’s sudden violence. The figures are blank because they are representing a societal issue that anyone could see themselves as a part of.Â
Simple outlines so far. Planning to add colour layers to better represent everything I have going on throughout the project. Lots of motion, keeping it all fast paced and interesting. I'm also using a quite sketchy drawing style in order to better portray motion and actions throughout.

This particular frame was chosen due to the unique representation of the child’s clothing. The sequence that this frame belongs to has a distinctly small amount of movement from the child’s deep breath, so to emphasize this important movement, the folds and shadows of the child’s clothing were detailed intensely. In viewing this short sequence, the moving details in the clothing reveals hidden emotion in the child’s body language. The simplicity of the face pulls focus to the eyes of the child and the implied sadness within them.
I decided to use this as my screenshot, I'm still working on coloring some things in, but I feel that it is a good representation of my project because shows how I feel after I complete a really tough sequence of frames, and it also portrays the rough, sketchy look that I am going for along with the flat color.
