Old Games New Reviews #135 – Weed Firm (iOS). The bon(g)afide “hit” of 2014, and in no way coincidental that I’m posting about this today, Weed Firm was very addicting on its own merits, regardless of what comprised the details of the game. You are a weed dealer pure and simple but what this game teaches is base level business economics. Sure, you make money, and depending on who comes over, you can coax them with extras, even play a little music to get them to buy more. And that’s the flashy front end everyone always glamorizes on tv and in the movies. But you have to buy supplies. You have to maintain and grow your inventory, and you definitely have to protect said inventory from both the indignant and self-righteous…and ok yeah, the law. It’s not too dis-similar from a candy shop really...or maybe more appropriately a donut shop HAHA. The core of weed firm and what makes it addicting is the pace that everything happens, and not just what you manage, but how you do it. It’s a very efficient, very insular looking problem solving and decision making tool, ripe with strategy that could be applied to any other business…this one just happens to be weed. All moral attitudes aside, Weed Firm is probably one of the best iOS strategy games ever made available, for free at that. The humor and content it centers around just gives it more character.
