Just make this clear, I have read the manga before watching the anime. I actually keep up to date with it. So I am aware that the manga does get awkward and weird at times as one might expect from this premise. Yet in my opinion, the manga has never gone too far. That is probably more down to the mangaka's style being Unable to do that.

The anime, however, is different. It leans the sexualization really hard. Oddly enough, it's very selective about it. (Oh Kaede, why did they do that to you.) It is SO frustrating. Because outside the sexualization, they had also made the anime so much more heartwarming and sweet. It's that whiplash that really gets to me. It even extends out into the merch itself! One moment you got a figure of Mahiro checking out his crotch, and the next you get a cutesty Saniro collab. (HOW.)

Despite my problems, I am still really loving the show so far. Even though I only watched the first 4 episodes, I already have alot to say! For starters, its a very prettty show! Sudio BIND is a newcomer to the industry with this as their second show, but you would never have known that from watching. It's so much more visually interesting to watch than its peers in the genre! Even the mundane moments had more life than I was expected from the show.

Is it because of the fewer cuts allowed more slower moments to truely shine? Perhaps it's despite being a first time director, Shingo Fujii is a well established and ace animator? (the same can be said about the character designer Ryo Imamura. ITS SO GOOD. WHAT DO YOU IT'S HIS FIRST TIME) Or just maybe, the production was just different? Honestly I don't know. I have to do more research on that last part.

Beyond the animation, the music and layout of the more sweeter moments from the manga really elevates them into the sunlight. On top of that, the changes from the manga makes for a tighter experience on top of enhancing the emotional core persent in the original.

"Clover you only seen 4 episodes! Surely you can't judge the whole show based on that!" You're right hypothetical critic. Perhaps they will drop the ball down the road. Or maybe the sexualization will become too much for me to bear. Who knows? But as it stands, I think this show is some special. And thats all I wanna say about this anime so far.
