My Tarantula slings came today on my birthday :D
The Pumpkin Patch (Hapalopus sp. Colombia) and the Curly Hair (Brachypelma albopilosum) are VERY VERY SMALL. Like, the size of my pinkie nail small. They blend in so well with their substrate that they will be very difficult to photograph. So please be patient and let them grow a bit first.
The Mexican Red Rump (Brachypelma vagans) however, i about half an inch big and big enough to photograph. Since they are a sling they don’t have the red hairs on their abdomen just yet. The first thing they did when I took them out of the tube was get a big drink of water from their water dish. Right now they are borrowing a little more and took a cricket earlier.
Since it is really hard to tell what sex they are yet, I’m giving them Jojo stand names. In order to sex them you need to examine their molts which with my terrible eyes will be difficult.
Red Rump = Killer Queen
Pumpkin Patch = Harvest
Curly Hair = Metallica.
