APPlying Ethical Shopping On the Daily: Smart Phone Apps To HelpÂ
Ethical shopping sure has its challenges, but I’ve found some tools that can point us in the right direction. With thanks to Shop Ethica, I’ve found some great applications that can lead to more compassionate + conscious consuming. Here are my top three favorites:Â
1.) Good Guide: This site/smartphone app has some insightful ratings - they may not have all the existing products out there, BUT they can at least point you to some brands that do a lot better for the environment and the society than others. I have to admit, most of the products that I thought were ethical were in fact, not. The truth hurts =/ Will have to spend some time figuring out what I can still feel good buying, and blog them. So far, good ol’ Dr. Bronner’s is the only one that fits the bill.  http://www.goodguide.com/
2.) AVOID: An plug-in you can install in your Safari or Google Chrome browser to block clothing companies that use child labor in their factory production. Created by a German group called “Active Against Child Labor”. Works on ASOS, Macy’s, Amazon, and Target sites.Â
3.) Social Impact: An iPhone/iPad app that detects responsible business within a 40 mile radius.Â
For more apps, head over to Shop Ethica... And while you’re there, you can stay a while to shop on their site for style and fashion items already curated and approved.Â
