13. A webseries you honestly didn’t have high expectations for but ended up really surprising you in the best way?

I hadn’t seen the first season of All For One so I didn’t know what to expect when my roommate had me watch season 2 with her. I ended up really loving the writing, especially Dorothy, Dornie, Alex’s arc, Rochefort and Dorothy’s friendship, and Treville. 

Beck & Clem was also a pleasant surprise! The acting was nuanced & funny as heck, the quality was so good for a low budget, and the dialogue was snappy & witty without being confusing.

8. A rare beast of webseries where the second season was actually better than the first?

I would say All For One! S2 definitely showed more friendship moments as well as the fallout from the Henry/Portia breakup and Alex’s mental health issues in S1. I really loved the exploration of those plots, and seeing Dornie be a more fleshed out couple, and Rochefort’s new friendship with the crew. 

16. A webseries that everyone else loves but just doesn’t click with you, whether bc of representational stuff or pacing or just the plot and story not really dragging you to the edge of your seat with suspense?

I will be brave and admit I didn’t really like Project Dashwood. It felt like it dragged on, they didn’t have a particularly diverse cast, and some of the actors’ portrayals didn’t match the personality/energy I had in mind for certain characters.

Also, Highr’d Help - I had a lot of issues with the plot holes re: Charlie’s past and the angel lore, the inclusion of plot elements that were unnecessary or rushed through onscreen while bigger character development happened completely offscreen, the lack of POC in complex and developed roles outside of “love interest”, and the pacing of several episodes (some of which I felt could either have been merged together or deleted entirely). 

1. A webseries that left you feeling like your heart was made of pure sunshine but also with the slightest tinge of bittersweet sadness?

I was a little sad when I finished Black Girl in a Big Dress because I enjoyed it SO much and I wanted more episodes!! Luckily they’re doing a season 2 which makes me so chuffed ;) 

Also Lizzie Bennett Diaries because the journey was so lovely and the end felt like the end of an era. 

16. A webseries that everyone else loves but just doesn’t click with you, whether bc of representational stuff or pacing or just the plot and story not really dragging you to the edge of your seat with suspense?

The only character in Couple-ish I found consistently engaging/relatable was Amy, although there were aspects of the other characters/plots I liked. 

Highrd Help was rather disappointing, in regards to POC rep as well as the writing & plot development. I didn’t get the hype, tbh. 

17. A webseries that IS really popular and you’re almost annoyed you love it too bc it is that good but you kind of wanted to be that annoying hipster who hates the one thing everyone loves bc it gives you a sense of self satisfaction you never received from your colleagues:
