Acorns - #tbt - Did you know that #acorns are often used to predict winter #weather? Referred to as #weatherlore, this type of forecasting has been used for centuries, but is it reliable...Yes and no. While many weather predictions can come from watching the behavior of #plants in the #landscape, the old adage that says, "An abundance of plump acorns can foretell the coming of a rough winter" doesn't really predict #winter conditions at all. In fact, the number and size of acorns on the ground has more to do with PAST conditions that the #tree has went through - typically going back 2-3 years. #throwbackthursday #triviathursdays
