I really can't help myself...I just love the look of aged objects. In this instance I'm sharing detail images of weathered wood, rocks, and of course some fungal growth from my latest hike. Part of maturing as an artist is connecting the dots of why you make the work you make. For a time I felt like I had to justify why I wanted to make work in atmospheric kilns such as soda and wood firings. These type of firings are not only time consuming but also labor intensive. I don't get to just program a kiln and press start. So far this labor of love is so worth it. I really identify with the work that comes out. My ceramics share a similar aged distressed mark making that I love discovering in nature or in urban settings. #knowthewhy #discoveryourinspiration #myinspiration #stopmeinmytracks #natureinspired #functionalceramics #lisayorkarts #weatheredwood #weatheredrocks #weatherednature #agedobjects #woodfiring #sodafiring #markmaking (at Shenandoah National Park)
