I understood it as there's no more wars bc now they have heros and villians to duke stuff out for them and that's cheaper lol
Bartholomus says “the kingdoms no longer competed,” which might be saying there are no more wars, but that would be a pretty weird way to phrase that, right? And Travis says in Orientation that Hero v. Villain battles “raise the profile of the kingdoms,” which isn’t what wars do, so I don’t see how such battles could directly replace wars. I mean, obviously all war is bad and unnecessary, and Bartholomus certainly seemed to think that the advent of accounting had resulted in some kind of utopia, but I can’t tell how much is characters being optimistic and how much is Travis telling us that the world is actually good.
