Style chats with Wearit Stylist Lisa Melis
Lisa’s unique personal look, spicy personality and brave styling make her stand out from the crowd. Passionate, adventurous and energetic, Lisa totally deserves her Wearit Stylist of the Week title!Â
What are you up to at the moment? Usual occupation?
I have a 9-5 job as a marketing coordinator for the automotive industry.
Describe your style in one sentence
FUN! I like to have fun with fashion, an outfit should never be boring.
Which country would you love to visit for fashion inspiration?
Spain! when I was in Barcelona last year I felt like everyone there was a style goddess.
Of course living in the country where Zara was founded that isn't hard. But I do think that NZ is super au courant with all fashion trends! I think we have some awesome local brands here.
Is there anyone that inspires your style?
I love Leandra Medine from the blog Manrepeller. She throws some crazy outfits together but she always seems to make them work and rock them!
How do you make sure an outfit has a point of difference?
Something about your outfit needs to make a statement, whether it's clashing patterns, a statement necklace or some awesome shoes.
What item of men’s clothing do you like the most? How should they wear it?
I love a good denim jacket on a man! It's the perfect way to add some pizzazz to an otherwise plain outfit.
If you could give guys one style tip, what would it be?
Invest in nice quality items or nice quality accessories. Like a nice watch, and good shoes! Especially when it comes to leather shoes I would say pleather is a no-go! Just invest the extra $50 or $100 because they'll last you a life time as opposed to a season.
Also with guys unlike girls, a few good staples go a lot further, so invest in a pair of good fitting, good quality jeans. (Sorry couldn't fit it all into one tip)
What do you like about Wearit?
I think it's awesome that guys are signing up to ask for fashion help! It's such a unique platform and us girls love it too!
Is there anything else we might find interesting about you or your style?
I hate wearing heals. If it's a must I will - but i'm all for looking good in comfort :)
How do you help out the people you know with their fashion?
Coming along for shopping expeditions to help advise! (always dangerous territory however as it's hard to not treat yo self as well) and letting my gal pals raid my wardrobe, which comes in handy when I need to raid theirs.
Thanks Lisa - we love having you in our stylist community.
Guys- just in there and get Lisa to style you on Wearit!
