As probably some of you already know, Iām a big fan of Ubisoft for a long time. In fact, I could say Iāve admired and supported this company for 7 years though in mind I remember it was for more time than that. During all that time, I didnāt only enjoy its games and projects, also dreamed about working for them one day. Also during all these years, thanks to Ubisoft Iāve discovered new wonderful friends who could be from fans to even members of Ubi who shared the same passion and Ā happiness as me for video games and the company. Recently, as I shared a week ago, was also able (thanks again to Ubisoft) to go to Paris and meet some of this same friends and enjoyed one of the best days of my life.
Anyway today I was nervous. Though I knew about the war between Vivendi and Ubisoftās CEO Yves Gillemot (the first was planning a hostile takeover over the company and the second was trying to protect its independece) and knew this week was really important, what I didnāt know today was the DAY. The day that would probably dictate if things were going to be good or bad. And after hearing Mr. Gillemot and Ubisoft won the battle today, I can say I was relieved. And I know this war isnāt over yet, but this first battle was very important and Iām really happy Ubisoft won this one.
Maybe some of you are asking āWhy are you worrying about a company which you arenāt working for - at least not yet? They donāt pay youā or what a hater would say āThey make shitty games full of bugs. They better be taken by Vivendi, they deserve itā or something like. Well⦠yes, they donāt pay me. Yes, sometimes some of their games had failures and Iām not going to be the one who denies that. But as I said above, I admire the company and its people, and Iāll always be thankful for allowing me to live beautiful moments as the event from Paris or every E3 conference they show every year; Iāll always be thankful for allowing me to know and meet awesome and wonderful people who shared the same ideas and passion as mine and made enjoy a lot; and, mostly, Iāll always be thankful for giving me the strength for what Iām fighting for: work for Ubisoft one day. So YES, Iāll always stand for Ubisoft and Mr. Gillemot and nothing will change my mind :)
