We thought it would be interesting to get views and answers from as many illustrators as possible, on how their business is and which factors help oxr hinder their lives as creative freelancers, and so this survey was born!
This year's Illustrators' Survey results are out. Really interesting to get a glimpse into the rest of the industry, especially as so many of us work alone.
Things that struck me:
74% feel that anxiety or confidence issues have affected their career - Would be interesting to compare to other industries, but that seems very high!
82% work without an agent - Interesting because my perception of this was so far out. It surprises me how few illustrators use agents and reassuring that I'm not the only one going it alone.
Only half of us ask for a deposit up front, but those who do mostly get it. This is one thing that's so useful about the survey - knowing what terms other illustrators are working by gives others confidence to expect the same.
