Mediatisation Commentary Article
Attending the media conference at the CPUT Granger Bay Hotel school was such an opportunity that one had to grab with both hands, my knowledge as a PR Student who attended the event was broadened and I got to gain a lot of information that I did not know.
Meeting the keynote speaker Lance Witten who is an anchor of the eNCA and editor was such an honour and also to get to listen to him speak and defining what exactly mediatisation is was so worthy of listening to because you got to write down point and also ask questions, he first opened his speech with a quote "Whoever controls the media, controls the mind" to elaborate more on what mediatisation is in the society we live in.
We also had other speakers namely Jeffery Onganga, Gasant Abarder, Nadine Cloete, Courtney Dean Africa and Allen Young all these expertise specialised on each field of media namely Journalism, Photography, Film production and Public Relations and they all dwelled on how much it is an important thing to create a good relationships with the people you work with or know in different fields and also to use our social media platforms to post what is good will make a change in the environment .
In all this the CPUT media department also took part in alerting people about the event through social media and this event elevated the publicity and the status of the CPUTMEDIA DEPARTMENT as many people in the event posted using the CPUTMEDIA DEPARTMENT HASHTAGS and the CPUT MEDIA DEPARTMENTS always posts and update us about the upcoming events which help us to prepare and know what to post about on our social media pages, This event was insightful and mind opening and I enjoyed it, thank you.
