Pairing : Childe x Weapon! reader
Characters : childe, you, and some random people
Story : is that a talking weapon???
The ruins were eerily quiet, the kind of silence that pressed against your ears and made every shuffle of feet echo like a cannon blast. Childe adjusted his scarf as he stepped into the main chamber. His vision flickered faintly, the cool blue glow illuminating ancient carvings on the stone walls.
At the center of the chamber stood a pedestal, its surface adorned with faintly glowing sigils. Atop it lay a weaponâa spear with an intricate design that almost looked alive. Its shaft was sleek black, lined with faint silver patterns, and the blade shimmered with a faint blue glow that pulsed like a heartbeat.
Childe approached slowly, his eyes narrowing. He reached out a gloved hand, hesitating for just a moment before his fingers brushed the weapon.
âAh, finally!â your voice erupted in his mind, sharp and loud enough to make him stumble back.
âWhat theâwhoâs there?!â Childeâs other hand instinctively reached for his sword, his eyes darting around the empty room.
âRelax, underling. Youâre looking right at me.â
Childe blinked, his gaze snapping back to you. âWait. Are youââ
âYes, yes, itâs me. The spear. The incredible, one-of-a-kind, spectacular soul of this weapon,â you interrupted, dripping with lpride. âAnd you, lucky mortal, just became my new wielder. Congratulations!â
Childe stared at you, a spear, slack-jawed. âYouâve got to be kidding me.â
âOh, Iâm very serious,â you continued, your tone smug. âFrom now on, youâre my underling. My partner, if you prefer a less embarrassing term. But letâs be realâyouâre working for me.â
Childeâs disbelief turned into a scowl. âPartner? Underling? Listen here, you oversized toothpickââ
âWhoa, whoa, letâs not throw around insults. You think I chose you because youâre boring? No. Youâve got potential.â
Childe narrowed his eyes, gripping your body tightly. âIf you think Iâm just going to let a talking stick order me aroundââ
âCorrection: Legendary weapon," you interjected, a little annoyed. âAnd if youâre smart, youâll listen. Otherwise, you can try putting me back and see how far you get without me.â
Childeâs grip tightened. For a moment, he considered doing exactly thatâtossing the spear back onto the pedestal and walking away. But something about your presence was... magnetic. He could feel the energy humming through the air, sharp and exhilarating.
âFine,â he muttered, lifting the spear. âBut donât get cocky. Iâm in charge here.â
âSure, sure,â you replied breezily. âWhatever you need to tell yourself, underling.â
------------------â§-----------------
Childe dashed through the dense forest, his breath puffing in the cold morning air. The spear was clutched tightly in his hand, its voice ringing in his mind.
âFaster, underling! This guyâs getting away!â
âI know heâs getting away,â Childe growled, leaping over a fallen tree. âMaybe if you shut up for two seconds, Iâd actually catch him.â
âExcuses,â you taunted. âI thought you were supposed to be some elite Fatui warrior. This is just embarrassing.â
Childe gritted his teeth, his eyes narrowing as he spotted his targetâa panicked and cloaked man, darting between the trees. âHeâs not getting away,â Childe muttered, picking up speed.
âFinally! Some spirit!â
With a burst of energy, Childe closed the gap, vaulting over a boulder and landing directly in front of the recruit. The man skidded to a halt, eyes wide with terror.
âEnd of the line,â Childe said, a predatory grin spreading across his face.
âNice save,â you quipped. âAlmost looked like you knew what you were doing.â
Childe glared at the weapon. âDo you ever stop talking?â
âNope. Get used to it.â
------------------â§-----------------
The Fatui recruit was tied to a tree, trembling as Childe leaned casually against his new spear.
âLetâs make this simple,â Childe said, his voice calm but laced with menace. âTell me what I want to know, and maybe Iâll let you go.â
The recruit shook his head frantically. âI donât know anything! I swear!â
âWrong answer,â you chimed in, its tone cheerful. âShould I start listing all the ways we can make this worse for you? Iâve got plenty of ideas.â
âStop helping,â Childe muttered, though the corner of his mouth twitched in amusement.
âIâm just saying,â you continued, undeterred. âWe could start withââ
âAlright!â the recruit screamed. âAlright, Iâll talk! Justâjust donât do anything weird!â
Childe smirked, leaning closer. âSee? That wasnât so hard.â
âTeamwork makes the dream work,â you added smugly.

They sat on a rocky outcrop overlooking the harbor, the sky awash with hues of orange and pink. Childe rested your beside him, his arms draped over his knees as he watched the waves below.
âYou know,â you began, breaking the silence, âthis view isnât half bad.â
Childe snorted. âDidnât take you for the sentimental type.â
âIâm full of surprises,â you replied. âBut seriously, sunsets like this make the chaos worth it. Even if you are a little annoying sometimes.â
Childe turned, raising an eyebrow. âMe? Annoying? Says the spear that never shuts up.â
âI mean, youâre reckless, a little unhinged, but... youâre fun. Itâs been a while since Iâve had fun.â
The harbinger turned, studying the weapon for a moment. âYouâre not so bad yourself. For a talking spear, I mean.â
âHigh praise,â you replied with mock seriousness. Then, after a beat: âYou know, sunsets like this make it all worth it. Even if youâre an idiot sometimes.â
Childe grinned, leaning back on his palms. âIâll take that as a compliment."
------------------â§-----------------
The battlefield was quiet, the air heavy with the scent of smoke and steel. Childe leaned on you, catching his breath.
âThat... was intense,â he panted.
âAnd awesome,â you corrected. âDonât forget awesome.â
Childe chuckled, shaking his head. âYouâre impossible.â
âMaybe,â you replied, your tone softer now. âBut I mean itâIâm glad you were the one who picked me up.â
Childe froze for a moment, then smiled. âYeah,â he said quietly. âMe too.â
As they walked away together, the setting sun casting long shadows behind them, Childe couldnât help but feel that, this weapon might just be the best thing that had ever happened to him.
