BEST OF ’22:

SINGLES_OF_THE_YEAR… // Dedicated to all the true 7”ers! CASS MCCOMBS & WEAK SIGNAL teamed up to bring “VACATION FROM THOUGHT,” the motorik A-side from their split 7” & it found the almighty Cass taking lead over a ruggedly taut, minimal & road_rocking bed provided by WS. “MY HEART” was a collaborative standalone single from CATHERINE MOAN x PRIMER & it found the Philly/LA-based duo bringing all the saccharine-laced SynthPop one can properly handle as traded verses rode a gleefully bounced arrangement.

CATHOLIC SCHOOL returned w/ a new standalone single titled “NEEDLE IN THE STORM’’ & it found the Memphis-based project bringing the JanglePop goodness across 3 1/2 mins chockfull of locked in low-ends, blended six-strings & yearningly desperate vox. DOCILE BODIES brought a new standalone single titled “VOYEURISM” & it found the Tilburg, NL-based quartet bringing a relentless chug across 4+ mins of of visceral post_punk chockfull of dissonant guitars, propulsive low-ends & stoically barked vox. “MANSIONS” was one of many fantastic standalone singles from FAWN & it found the PDX-based duo dropping a bouncy bout of aesthetically pleasing ElectroPop that was chockfull of gleaming synth, blissed euphoria & doe eyed bravado.

“ARCH” (@theefuneralparty) is the dance-tastic B_Side from TOPOGRAPHIES’ latest 7” single & it finds San Francisco-based trio of bassist Justin Oronos, guitarist Jeremie Ruest & vocalist Gray Tolhurst bringing a compressed bout of gloomy GothPop that’ll no doubt send plenty of melancholic heads towards the nearest darkened dancehall w/ their blend of dreamy NuWave.
