{Hello fellow spookies! We are nearing the end of our part in this wonderful event, however there is still one final thing to do – THE FINAL BATTLE. We are gauging interest over the next two days to see who would be able to make this event in game. The event will be hosted on Saturday, October 17th at 8 pm server time at (hopefully) various locations. Ideally how this will work, is we will gather a few different groups of RP’ers (both those who are Marked and those who are fighting against the Faceless/with the Resistance) and separate them out in different zones to take place in a massive final battle.  Now, obviously, not all of you are going to make this event in game and we completely understand. This final event can be written about on Tumblr, done over Skype with friends, turned into a Google Doc – whatever platform you have access to you can utilize it for this Final Battle. There are a few ground rules to this event, so please read the following carefully to make certain your characters will be eligible/willing to fight in this battle:

-Only those who are Marked by the Faceless (those who still retain a physical mark that has not been tampered with or altered in any way, shape or form) will be fighting against the Resistance. They are the only ones the Faceless will be speaking directly to via their Mark and empowering with Their will. The Marked will be given directive before the game begins to ensure that they are prepared for what will transpire. -Those that are fighting with the Resistance will be doing so under the command of the Resistance Leaders (both Horde and Alliance). These leaders will be picked out from those who can/will attend in game and given an overview of how the battle will go. They will make certain things are kept in check both IC and OOC since we cannot be everywhere at once. For the course of the event, they will be our Mini-Gods. Their word will be law.

- Those that are Marked are going to be mini-raid bosses in of themselves. This means that they will be endowed with the Faceless’ power. This also means that at the beginning of this event, it’s very much going to look like the bad guys will win. They are going to be strong, they are going to be hard to bring down but that does not mean they are going to be impossible to defeat.  There will come a point where the tides will most definitely turn. PLEASE REMEMBER: OOC communication is important. Not all of the Marked will want to be captured, imprisoned, knocked out or killed in the end. This needs to be handled efficiently and maturely. If those who were Marked want to flee after the final battle, they will be allowed to do so as that is their player’s decision and no one else’s. -The Resistance and the Marked that will be fighting in this final battle will be doing so with both Alliance and Horde players. This is a coming together of both sides to focus their aggressions on the bigger threat: The Marked (or the Resistance if you are marked) and the Faceless.  Inner conflict between these two groups needs to not happen at this event. This is not an Alliance vs. Horde kind of deal, this is a joined effort to eradicate the tainted presence of those Faceless bastards once and for all. If your character will not/ cannot play nicely with the opposite faction or take orders from someone who may be the opposite faction, this is not the event for you! While we cannot guarantee that you will be placed in the same group with all of them, we will strive to make certain this is an enjoyable event for all. If there is someone you wish to NOT interact with in this event (if there will be OOC conflict) please also note these names as well and we will separate you out. This information will be kept to ourselves.) We are keeping the ‘registrations’ for this event open until Friday at 5 pm server time. This gives you some time to plot and figure out which character (if any) would show up to this event. If you have several people who want to fight together, please notate that in the outline you send to us. We are trying to keep these groups small so that there are not walls of texts trying to be read by fifteen different people. On Friday night/Saturday morning we will be sending out the location, the group and the Marked that will be at each mini-battle to all involved. As we cannot spend time renegotiations the groups, once these are sent out, the placements will be final.  This is going to be a cross-faction event, which means RiD conversations will be utilized for communication. Not everyone in the group will need to share Btag’s, and indeed some of you will already know one another so it shouldn’t be an issue. Information will need to be exchanged between Horde and Alliance in order to form these cross-faction conversations. Skype groups can be used as well if you are all connected there. We understand this is a lot of information to take in, so please read carefully and let us know if you would like to be involved!

She’d been in the Ghostlands when news reached her, and it took her a moment to piece it all together. A bomb. The Shielded Mind. Some said it was an earthquake but for such localized destruction, nobody truly believed it. Altherei pressed a hand to her chest and struggled for a breath, the news having pulled all the air from her lungs and left her wanting.

As fast as she could, she mounted her hawkstrider and spurred him to the city. He couldn’t run fast enough, and the astronomer’s mind was a swirling fog of concern. Not even a few days ago she’d managed to get in touch with Bel’navar and assure his own safety, but what of it now? What of Renik, who she’d still heard nothing from?

And what of the Doctor?

When she finally arrived in the city, the streets were abuzz. Grief, shock, worry, panic, and more emotions than she cared to recognize were displayed on the citizens. She hurried through the crowds as best she could, and when she saw that she wouldn’t be getting through to the Bazaar by its normal entrance, she tied her hawkstrider to a post outside the inn.

She hurried through, occasionally offering a gentle shove and plenty of apologies to those she had to move out of her way. When she finally caught her first glimpse of what had been the clinic, she almost wished she’d taken her time to get there.

It was destroyed. Teal eyes darted back and forth and though she wanted to get closer, to help those working, her legs didn’t dare move another step. She could smell the smoke and the disgusting odor of burnt flesh. She covered her mouth with her hands to keep herself from gagging as workers brought out body parts. She could ask herself who did this, but somehow.. somehow, she knew. It was obvious, wasn’t it?

This was the work of the Faceless. Or the Collective, or whatever they had decided to call themselves that day. A fire was set alight in Alth’s blood, and her own fear and panic melted away into a righteous fury. She had no skills with spell or sword. She had no way to heal.

But that didn’t mean she couldn’t.. wouldn’t fight. She had asked Xanelen at her first trip to the clinic if he thought they would resort to violence. At the time, he had said no. Now, clear evidence was right before her very eyes.

The Faceless intended to make this a war... and Altherei vowed then to do all she could to bring them to their knees.

  The Relic had scoured the icy plain of Frostfire for the garrison she had never been invited to from sundown to sunup. She couldn’t really blame Lukel for his caution, Yeven had not always  been a friend to the Good Doctor. Even now, she could not necessarily describe their relationship as ‘friendly’. Gor’tael did what he believed was right, regardless of the outcome and she did what she could to assist him. Even when his actions left him all alone in a mortuary of bodies. The front gates to the garrison had been blasted down, the singed remains of the stout logs spread out in the snow like the decaying bones of some great beast.  She proceeded with caution, tainted golden orbs scanning the gore-strewn landscape. The bodies had frozen, rigamortis mixed with the unforgiving icy blasts that ripped through the foreboding landscape had turned the once gruesome scene into a still museum of unforgivable sins. 

She walked silently through the destroyed garrison, eyes ever watchful though it was rather pointless now. Nothing was left alive here except, hopefully, for one man. The barracks loomed up out of the early morning fog, frozen and glistening blood spread over the entry way like a flag. Here was where it had begun, the blood declared.  Hopefully, here was not where it ended as well, she thought as she approached.

Soft footsteps rung out on the mortar and rock steps as the Relic slowly descended into the dark depths below. There were no torches burning, no light to speak of at all, yet she didn’t have trouble seeing what was there. The entire basement had been burned to the point where some of the walls had begun to melt. This place had been turned into a living inferno that no normal man or woman could have walked away from.  Huddled in the corner of a cell was her Gor’tael, old blood stained his robes but he had no wounds to speak of. His eyes were closed and his breathing came slowly, almost as if he were asleep. She brushed a hand through the air, feeling for the strings that would lead her to a trap or lure her closer to unknown danger, but there was nothing here. Not even a ghost of lingering magic. Just a dark prison with a broken inhabitant. Yeven drew nearer the cell bars, reaching for the lock and crushing the steel in her fist. She tore off the mangled piece of metal and tossed it to the side, the clattering noise enough to lift Lukel’s head from where it rested against the wall. Golden eyes met void stained orbs and for a moment there was nothing but silence as the two calculated out the numbers, the hypothetical possibilities and finally came to the same conclusion: neither of them was yet too lost to recognize the other. The blonde opened the cell door and took a step inside, a compassionate look painted across her face as she held out a hand for Lukel’s. “Come now, Gor’tael. This is no place for you.”

The Good Doctor remained seated. Perhaps he thought this an illusion or yet another trick of the voices, suspicious eyes looking the woman over. “There is no place for me out there either, Elekai. I couldn’t stop her from escaping… I couldn’t stop either one of them from leaving and I threw everything I had at them. Both of us did.” She knew what he meant when he said ‘both’, but she didn’t let concern touch her eyes. She moved closer to him slowly, seating herself on the cot neat his feet. “I imagine you did, sweetheart, and I imagine it was not enough to fight them off. But you forgot yourself, didn’t you? You reached for a power they both played well with.” Her hand brushed over the top of his head, soothing golden light flickering between her fingers as she continued to speak. “But you are not all that you seem, nor are you helpless in this war. There is both darkness and light within you, much as there is inside of me. We are not creations that lay down after defeat. We rail against the strings of fate until we sever them or we perish in the attempt. For people such as us, Lukel, there is no in between.” His eyes watched her from within the depths of his own personal hell, her touch soothing away the voices and screams until they were just a dull roar in the back of his mind. It brought clarity and a rising rage that he could not hold back. They had tried to vanquish his will, to destroy his mind in an attempt to keep him down, to keep him passive. How dare they think they could cage the Butcher of Brill. He took her hand in his own cold digits, standing up and pulling the Relic to her feet beside him. He clung to her hand like a lifeline, perhaps still not wholly convinced she was really there. “There is more darkness in me now then there has ever been. My shields are gone, my barriers have been breached and I feel exposed.” Yeven squeezed his hand gently as a reassurance before leading him slowly, step by step out of the cell. “When I am purified, I will restore what has been taken from you as best I can. I know I cannot make it all better, but I will do what I am able to.” She offered him a soft, beautiful little smile. “You once fixed me when I thought I was past the point of no return. It is high time I repaid the favor. Even if it is the last gift I am able to give you.” “We will go together, much as I always promised we would.  One way or another, Lukel, I will not leave you to face the ages of this world alone.” It was both a promise and a threat, one that he took to heart as he followed Yeven out into the early light of day for the first time in twelve days.

People are getting sick and strange flowers are popping up. I’m glad I left Stormwind. Though, what am I even doing out here? 

Alastar sighed heavily. His fingers trailed across the wooden mug, feeling the faint dents as he thought back. There hadn’t been any real reason he had come back to Thousand Needles, other than wanting to escape and possibly avoid, he added. Getting into school to learn magic had gone poorly. The test he needed to pass, he had failed only be a few points. So a question presented itself. What was he going to do now?

A rational man would have continued to practice and study. But when had ever been rational? 

So here he was spending his money in Thousand needles with Smokey as his protector, listening to gossip, and debating how long he should stay gone or just never return. A fear of what Selise would say from learning he just gave up was a lecture he didn’t want to listen too.

She’d heard the rumors. The Faceless, the Collective... marked individuals. She’d been out of the city when bodies were lying in the street, slaughtered like lambs. She’d also heard of the Resistance-- The Shielded Mind, and a group of individuals who were actively fighting back.

It concerned the astronomer that she’d never heard any whispers. She looked herself over every morning after she bathed to ensure no marks had marred her skin; that was the only way to ‘belong’ to these... ‘Faceless’, right? Over and over she’d told herself she should visit the new hospital just to be safe. To figure out just what was happening in Silvermoon.

Today, she would have no excuse. Though she’d seen the new flowers popping up outside and inside the city, she’d paid them no mind. After all, what was to be feared from a flower? Only when she stepped into Silvermoon did her eyes finally stop to linger on a posting. A warning on these strange, white and red... dangerous flowers.

Her mouth hung agape in a silent gasp, and though the symptoms had yet to set in, she knew precisely where she ought to go. Hurrying into the Bazaar, she made her way to the house of the Resistance, and swiftly moved to the threshold.

“H-hello? Hello! Is someone there...? I.. I saw the posting about the flowers..” Her voice trailed off and she swallowed thickly.

Small flowers have begun to bloom in the eternal spring forests of Quel’thalas, across the plains of Westfall and up to the very gates of Stormwind and Silvermoon City itself. They are small in composure; the centers of the flower stark white, the petals fading out to a sanguine stain around the tattered and pointed edges. The stigma of the flower itself looks ominous, dark red and barbed. As silent as a weed they have spread and are now starting to pop up just about everywhere there is accommodating land.
