Meet Ivy Ling! She is a 15 year old girl who grew up in San Francisco but has spent the last couple of years in Houston, Texas. Ivy spent her childhood as a gymnast before shifting her focus to dance, with the goal of joining the danceline for her school's marching band. However, the beginning of her adolescence marked the onset of her hEDS symptoms. Now, she is figuring out what being a dancer will look like for her as she deals with the pain and mobility issues. For many people, hEDS is a dynamic disability. In other words, the level of disability can change day to day and without notice. For Ivy, this means that sometimes, she needs mobility aids, and sometimes, she can walk and dance without any problem. When she's having more difficult days, she works with the coach to provide feedback and come up with choreo, which ignites her passion for teaching.
