When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
The arranged marriage YA romcom you didn't know you wanted or needed... Meet Dimple.
Her main aim in life is to escape her traditional parents, get to university and begin her plan for tech world domination.
Meet Rishi.
He's rich, good-looking and a hopeless romantic. His parents think Dimple is the perfect match for him, but she's got other plans...
Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works even harder to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.
As joyfully refreshing as Rainbow Rowell, Jenny Han and Nicola Yoon, When Dimple Met Rishi is a frothy, funny contemporary romance told from the dual perspectives of two Indian American protagonists. While Dimple is fighting her family traditions, Rishi couldn't be happier to follow in the footsteps of his parents - could sparks fly between this odd couple, or is this matchmaking attempt doomed to fail?
Disclaimer: I received a copy free from the publishers via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Dimple is passionate about coding and has been dreaming of going to Insomnia Con, a summer program for aspiring web developers where the winner gets to meet Jenny Lindt ā a successful woman in the technology buisness ā an idol of Dimple. So when her parents agree to pay for this program, she finally starts to believe that her parents have finally come around to the idea that she isnāt ready for a husband yet. But then Rishi comes along. He is romantic, traditional, and artistic, but when he introduced himself jokily as her future husband, she throws her drink in his face. Turns out, her and Rishiās parents arranged their meeting believing them to be a matchā¦
When Dimple Met Rishi was, simply put, a lovely read. When Dimple Met Rishi was a fantastically written and fun arranged marriage YA romantic comedy. I think Iāll forever be recommending this book to anyone who is looking for a good romantic comedy. But not just that, I feel like it is also an incredibly important book. When Dimple Met Rishi features two Indian American protagonists falling in love. Something which is important so that young Indian girls and boys who can finally see themselves represented in a mainstream YA book. But that isnāt the only reason itās a great book. For starters, the characters are great and I loved BOTH Dimple and Rishi.
Dimple was my favourite as she was spirited, carefree, and very ambitious. She was fighting against her parents and their traditions. She thought they only cared who she married and how she looked not who she was or what her dreams and ambitions were. I liked how she figured out that all they really wanted was her to be happy, and that they were proud of her and her accomplishments, and always have been. I also loved that Dimple was so passionate about technology, coding, and web development, I think that sends some really great messages to young people, as we need more women in technology, especially marginalised. I also really adored Rishi as he was traditional, artistic, and kind and out of the two, he was the hopeless romantic which is always nice to see. I also liked that Rishi was very traditional and that he wanted to keep up his familyās tradition and heritage, but I also liked how he developed throughout the book to decide what he wanted to do and follow his art rather than do what his parents wanted.
The romance played a central role in the book, which Iām not usually a big fan of but I enjoyed Dimple and Rishi so much individually it was hard not to love them together. I love how their personalities contrasted so well with each other, but they still got along so well. It was a lovely romance full of mutual support, encouragement and admiration.
Overall, definitely a book Iād recommend to any romance and contemporary lovers. This is a book not to miss.

I finished When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandgya Menon and I kinda see it relating to Anna and the French kiss?

WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI by Sandhya Menon
5 STARS
Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways. (From Goodreads)
Oh. My. Gods.Ā
This book, yāall, this BOOK. I have never in my life ordered my own copy of a library book until I read WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI. Sandhya Menon has a way to write characters with flourishing cultures. This is THE summer contemporary, and Iām so mad they compared it to Eleanor and Park! So, so much better!!
I love everything. The writing is fun, sassy and smooth. I love the setting of San Fran and how even though it seems like a insta-love story, they really didnāt fall that way. They had six weeks to get to know each other, and theyāre young! And compatible. Itās not like Rishi is just going along with Dimple or vice versa. They both have their personalities and inputs. And Dimpleās app idea, I want. I really wanted more App-y talk, but I wonāt complain!!
Also, the only thing that disappointed me was the predictable ending! We knew who was going to win as soon as the talent show happened. BUT! That made the rest of the story really work! Iām already re-read this book so that should tell yāall how awesome this book is. PLEASE check out the Audiobook if you like them, the narrators DO NOT DISAPPOINT!Ā
(Also, please please pls check out the back cover! ITāS A HOOT)
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon || āHe already knew the first time he saw Dimpleās picture that their story would become a sort of legendā
