She didn’t know how to feel about this, being out in the open with the woman she loved for years. There was a sense of relief with some slight apprehension, wanting to protect Alison from harm’s way. Tan fingertips gripped the steering wheel as her other hand intertwined fingers with Alison’s. The glare from her headlights illuminated the dark road in front of them as Emily proceeded towards the route - one she could have taken with her eyes closed. “We’re almost there..” she whispered to Alison as they approached the red traffic light, leaning over to peck her cheek. Her lips were soft against Alison’s warm cheek, the NYC lights in the distance as they were far out from Rosewood.

the night before was close to perfect, the softness of the comforter wrapped over her slender form serving as a reminder. she could hear the footsteps in the room, dark eyelashes fluttering open to see alison beside her, the strong scent of breakfast enticing her. emily’s nose scrunch up at the waft of waffles and coffee filling up the morning air, feeling as if she was waking up into a dream.  “babe... you didn’t burn down the kitchen?” emily murmurs sleepily, but manages a blissful smile as she opens up her arms for alison to curl into. “should i reward you or did you take a trip to the iHop up the road?” she jokes.
