Review:
Today in the library, "Monochrome" from my good friend Eden Lai.
I will not talk much about this project, but it has a reason to happen, the book seems to me very personal for me to give a concrete opinion. And something else happens here, I'm a really big fan of Eden's work ... so you can imagine the rest.
Monochrome, it's a joy for my eyes! I really love the book, and I'm a lucky guy, because I have one of the 20 copies! :) (But it's still one copy to go, so take it before the book becames sold out!)
There is too much poetry on Eden Lai series, a beautiful set, all black and white, in a way remains me Daido Moriyama; the unforeseen, of the small situations of our day to day acquire another dimension, through the author's eyes. The obscure look of the author fuses with the streets that he photographs, with people, with shops; and in the end, it all makes sense in a way. It's very nice to see that!
At my eyes the book relects the search of something by the author, I do not know what, but something it is. Eden's talked about is relationship with photography, in the introduction of the book, it may be that he seeks, build its already strong relationship with the image and with the world.
I love it! (I have to say it again!)
Regarding technical aspects, the book is good, I love the layout, the cover, and the inside flow, maybe the inside paper could be different, I do not know. One thing is for sure, I love the cover texture.
So, like I said earlier, you have to buy the last copie, really worth it!
