soo... i rewatched season 1 and noticed something completely useless again lol. remember my love for similar sounding things? well, when they're eating ramen together in the infirmary and play rock paper scissors for every fckn bite (chill boys) shide says "我們之間沒有輸贏“ (women zhijian meiyou shuying) which translates to: "there's no winning or losing between us". which 1) ties into 2x06 when he says he lost the number one spot to shuyi immediately (willingly) when he fell for him BUT ALSO 2) "輸贏 shu ying" (losing & winning) sounds a bit like shuyi, the way shide says it. i'm aware it's a stretch, but the way shide says it sounds so much like "shuyi" and like... that's the dude who's OBSESSED over counting the wins and losses between the two of them... but it doesn't stand in their way kinda vibe? do i even make sense lol just wanted to rant this to you bc i think it's a cute coincidence(??)

i don't actually know Mandarin, unfortunately... and, unless there's jpn sub for me to translate from, then i can't do any translating and subbing asfghjkldi

omg yessssssss i ascended when Shi De said 「お義父さん」 (otou-san) meaning father-in-law... it has the same reading as 「お父さん」 (otou-san) one own's father but there's an extra kanji 「義」 it can get confusing haha

also, Shu Yi didn't just offer his dad, Shu Yi also offered himself to Shi De at thay first meeting 😏

this scene is so funny w/ the jpn sub lol the 1st woman was talking about staff reduction and, out of nowhere, 2nd woman was like ‘if we look at the president and vice president Zhou, it's like they’re forming a marriage alliance’

literally out of nowhere and she just says ‘forming a marriage alliance’ and no one, no one, reacted to it??? like, what tf were u on when u translated it like that jpn subber? i really wanna know what the original chinese script is now lol
