A snippet of the newest chapter of Won't Be Alone Again! Finally working on it again :)
For those (likely most) that don't know, it's a Jason centric, platonic batfam soulmate AU I have posted on AO3. The basis is that if you touch blood, you live through the times your soulmate(s) need you most as a sort of ghost, able only to interact with your soulmates. Read it here
----
The next few weeks are pretty calm. He busts a human trafficing ring with Stephanie and Tim, visits Barbara for tea before patrol once (Awkward, a little, but it's a start), laughs at Duke with Cass when he misjudges the slipperiness of a wet railing and falls on his face.
It's still April, though, and April sucks. It's rain showers and wild swings in temperature- with vigilantes, it's a recepy for old injuries acting up.
He spots Batman for the first time in... months, he's pretty sure. They stare at each other for a tense few seconds before Bruce leaves. Jason has the odd suspicion that his soulmates have something to do with it.
When he asks Steph about it (when she comes begging for food again), she laughs.
"Yeah, Tim threatened him ages ago. Should've seen the fallout of the whole Arkham situation after we got you out, it was a shitshow," she says. "Duke yelled at him recently, too. After he bonded with you. Or that's what Cass said, anyway, I wasn't there."
"What the fuck," Jason says.

Jason's doing a very good job of ignoring the huge ass elephant in the month, thank you very much. His idiot soulmates, less so. So he's a little jumpy, and he flinches if someone laughs a little too loud. He's fine, thanks, he'd appreciate it if they left him the fuck alone. But noo, these idiots and their souls won't stop bothering him. He's being dragged into shenanigans and team ups and hang outs left and right. There's constantly a soul hanging around or pressing close.
It's annoying.
Robin, especially, hovers. He flits in and out of Jason's days, never coming close but always at the edge of Jason's awareness. When he does touch, it's to say sorry. Again. Again. And again.
Nightwing hangs around Gotham, too. The others try to keep him away, and even Oracle seems to help in redirecting Jason, but they spot each other in the distance a lot.
Then, a little over a week before The Elephant In The Month, they run into each other properly.
But if there’s no forgiveness
How’m I gonna get any rest
With the ghosts in my head
Winding me tight to shallow breath
If the words that you said
Didn’t have to be what you meant
Maybe I could live with it

November’s episode of Acoustic Blend is all about thanksgiving, forgiveness, and letting go; featuring local artist Cliff Ritchey, along with Bandcamp artists Brian Payne, Rylee Owens, and Chris Dupont. Â
This month’s show opens with a couple tracks from Zach Winter’s Monarch album, which is great for the fall/winter moods. Be sure to check out his latest release Love is a Garden!

It's Member Station Wednesday! Two-Way blogger and sailor Scott Neuman says he "did a bit of announcing at WBAA (Purdue University) circa 1987." He's been using this sturdy mug since he got it a few months ago from a Purdue alumni rep. IYDK: WBAA is the oldest continually operating station in Indiana and has a fascinating history.Â
