“Look, kid. Sometimes you just have to accept that I have the superior skill when it comes to deciding what diners are worth going to. And this place-” there’s a pause as he juts his finger, pointing at the restaurant behind them, “is the best goddamn place in Gotham.”
“You don’t say? Congratulations, you have more knowledge of places to eat out at, than a poor orphaned kid who barely has money for a candy bar at a gas station. Go you.”

Jason stared at her, unsure how to feel about hearing the admission. He eyed the redhead, lips tugging down into a grimace. He was glad to have the helmet on, hiding the grimace. He pursed his lips, unable to acknowledge it.
He tapped the side of his helmet. “Sorry- The hearing aid was off. What’d you say, Red?” It was times like these when he realized it was easier pretending he couldn’t hear the few things that made it to his good ear.
Whatever blank expression she wore before morphed into a fierce frown. Barbara knew that even if he didn’t hear her, Jason read her lips. Why he refused to acknowledge her belief in him--she couldn’t say. His helmet kept her from seeing his eyes. That was where Jason lied, between everything he didn’t say and what he didn’t show.
A tell she only realized with some self awareness in her “old” age.
“Don’t try that bullshit with me.”

someone please elaborate IN CANON on how he deals with his delusions i want to know more about his mental illness always. show him not being able to hide his symptoms. show him being emotional with bruce and being angry for everything that’s happened to him. show bruce reacting to just how sick tommy really is. make it impossible for bruce to keep ignoring like he does so often in the comics. make tommy shove it in bruce’s face that bruce wasn’t there for him growing up, and it’s a large part of why his delusions developed so extensively. please

ok ok ok so i’ve been thinking about his psychotic symptoms a lot lately and trying to find a balance of auditory and visual hallucinations.
i’ve mentioned before that sometimes his reflection talks to him, but i’m thinking he often deludes himself into thinking that it’s not just him or bruce, but some amalgamation of their souls, so it’s a completely separate entity. im still playing around with the idea tho

“I have my own connections, Red. When were you gonna tell me? Who does the little brat belong to?”
“If you’re so well informed, you tell me.”
[text: Harper] If it was Kory who did it, I don’t want to test her patience.
[text: Harper] So tell me who and why and I might consider helping your dumb ass.
[text: Jaybird] GROAN. I'm groaning, and I just hit my head on the oven, and it's all your fault.
[text: Jaybird] Okay fine. I may or may not have had a lady cop over last night. She may or may not have realized/decided I was not single.
[text: Jaybird] Which... Technically idk. Might need to have a pow-wow.
Jason frowned as he watched Tim wince. “You might need stitches, too. I’ll take a look when we get to the safe house,” he promised. “Then we’ll get you to Alfie to see about a concussion.” He glanced away before taking a step forward. “Five blocks southeast, I have one. Do you have a bike nearby?”
"Yeah, it's..." Tim took a moment to retrace their steps to where they'd ended up, then gestured in a vaguely northerly direction. "Like, block and a half northeast from here." He turned his head to check if there was any activity on the street, then froze when he felt a warm sensation crawl down the back of his head.
"... Yeah, my head's bleeding," he noted detachedly.
