I told the call taker that I think I might have completed something but I’m not sure if it was really completed. 

She was awesome.  She congratulated me anyway.  And that was the best.  Because why not?  Why not celebrate every moment possible, even if that moment isn’t even really success.  Even if it’s a false start or not really even the final goal, it’s still success.  I tried.  I did something.  It’s still success.  And every moment is another moment to celebrate.

Called a line that’s normally really busy but has some nice people sometimes, so I was happy to get someone pretty quickly.  And I thought I remembered her to be pretty nice.

But pretty quickly after I started talking, I hear typing.  It’s pretty clear that she’s not really listening.  She’s intent on typing.  Why?  Who could possibly care what she’s typing? 

I was so disappointed.  It’s been a long day of nasty, ugly, stupid calls.  I didn’t need another one tonight.  I tried to talk for a few more minutes, but I didn’t have it in me. 

How rude and stupid of her to be typing while I’m talking.  Not only is she not listening, no one could possibly care what she’s typing, except maybe her.  And I doubt even that.

I stopped talking long enough to confirm that she wasn’t really listening because she had nothing interesting or cogent to say.  She tried babbling a few things I just said, but when people aren’t paying attention, it’s pretty obvious.  And she was even bad at faking it.  I thanked her for her time and hung up.
