Bumping the passenger car door closed with his hip, Mateo made a straight line toward the Mallory estate that was so full, there were people spilling out onto the front yard. Without any words of gratitude or acknowledgment given to his brother who’d driven him, he quickly left Matias in the dust in search of someone else to enjoy-- or at the very least undergo-- the party with.
Scanning the living room as he entered, mumbling quiet ‘excuse me’s under his breath as he made his way through the obstacles made up of human bodies gathered around the entryway, his attention eventually settling on one Waverly Graham. He’d always found her company to be entertaining, regardless of the mixed review amongst his “friends.”
“I heard there’d be plenty of alcohol.” Using a louder tone than usual to be heard over the music, he flashed Waverly a smile as he approached. “I was hoping you’d know where the good stuff was.”
