It’s not like he can advertise his services in the conventional sense. There’s a matter of secrecy, not to mention some rules listed in his contract with the League. Most of his investigations were off the books, so to speak. Done during the weekends or his off days, where he’s allowed to spend it as he likes. That’s where the internet helps him. It’s really easy to put up an ad on online forums. The success is another story entirely, but at least he has something to do outside of battling, paperwork and making protective tags.

Whenever he puts up an ad as an unaffiliated spirit medium, he gets a few nibbles. Morty skims through their request, and if he deems it too ridiculous, he ignores them. It’s not his first time navigating through this sea of anonymity, so he’s used to filtering out the garbage and focusing on the real gems. Like this one request sent to him by an interested party.

From what he can tell, their manager had been acting strangely and recently, had shown signs of being possessed. The classic signs were there-- erratic behavior, jerky movements and most importantly, a bit of levitating. That really can’t be explain as anything but possession, so Morty decides on taking on this case. They discussed briefly on a meeting spot, and that’s how he found himself in the Sinnoh region on a Saturday a week later. These things needed to be dealt quickly before the damage is irreversible.

Morty had told his client that he’d be the blond guy in purple, so he waits patiently in front of the meeting spot for anyone that appeared to look for him. There’s a chance that this might be a hoax, but he truly feels like this particular requester was sincere in his message for help.
