Orympost I dare you. Consider me the sick fuck egging you on
me reading this ask
ok so. i love Orym so much and I truly have too many thoughts abt him to be contained in one post so let's just start with the trauma, the thing that defines Orym not just as a character but also discursively. this discussion often feels very surface level, not much more than a simple acknowledgment that Orym is sad bc dead family. which is a shame, bc the thing that really strikes me about Orym's grief is not simply that he has it but how deeply it has shaped him, consumed him. the death of his family often gets used as a reason no one should ever challenge him on anything ever, which is an incredibly unproductive and unhealthy way to view trauma, and also obscures the much more compelling and poignant truth; Orym is absolutely not handling his trauma productively or healthily. i have made a meme to further express my feelings on the matter.
so, i remember quite well the first time i watched Orym's resurrection in episode 34.
when he sees Will in the afterlife and says, the most sincere he's ever sounded (and he is so sincere all the time), "I really wish I could stay." and in that moment i realized; oh, Orym would rather be dead right now. Orym would rather be dead right now, because it would mean he got to be with Will and Derrig.
another moment i think about a lot: when he's talking with Uther, a member of the Gorgynei, in episode 42, about naming his sword and about their times traveling, and Uther says: "it's nice to have a home finally, after traveling for a long time. i hope you and your friends can find a home, or return to the ones you have."
and Orym says: "I'll think of a name [for his sword]."
it's a fun kind of synergy that Orym is a dex based character who is also, emotionally, so slippery and avoidant. always deflecting. he's defined by his steadfastness in battle and his stubborn refusal to change outside of it. it's notable how stagnant Orym felt, as a character, up until the Issylra arc. very intentionally so; he's likely been in a state of paralysis for much of the last 6 years. he really wishes he could stay. i don't think he's accepted that he can't.
or that there's reasons not to: of all of the many Orym moments i think about all of the time, the one i think about by far the most is his conversation with the Wildmother, all the way back in EXU, when she tells him, so lovingly:
"There is so much I would have you see."
that, more than anything, is the line that defines Orym to me. you can see glimpses of it, in his love for the Hells, his amazement when he's dancing with the spirits or watching Ashton blow 200 gold gambling; on the other hand, in his refusal to really engage with the gods debate (as stated by Liam himself) or his continued discomfit with some of his friend's oddities. there is so much world, so much beauty, so much love still out there for Orym to experience, if he would simply let himself. revenge is nice, i hope he gets it, but it will simply never be enough. it will not give him the capacity to love fully again, and if he gets the revenge and not the love he will end up empty, hallowed out, leading a life always wishing he could be somewhere else.
right now he's regressing, reduced down to nothing but that painful wound, abandoning even so much of his kindness and reason. the hells can help, and they should and they will, because they have so much love to give. but Orym will have to open himself up to it, to them, first. i really hope he does!!

What are some of your favorite Helia moments from the comics? I think you've mentioned that he gets more fleshed out there than in the show
OUGH SO MANY!! but.. i will list a few ajhgladhljg (these aren't in order just as they pop into my head)
-them revealing that he's super good at ice skating and figure skating? and him being so good that the other characters are surprised and ask for tips? hello??
-SPY HELIA!! he had a little double agent espionage arc in the comics and everyone forgets about it 😞
-when he insults the old lady by calling her house an old folks home just cause she wouldn't rent to younger people. good for him.
-when he rejects sky's call in the same issue. also good for him.
-when the specialists are training younger knights and he starts teaching them meditation 😭
-ohh there's a later comic where they're planning a surprise party for timmy's birthday and the guys are trying to leave the house without timmy and the way they drew helia hastily walking out of the apartment is so funny aljdhgljagd like the others are trying to console timmy while also giving excuses for why they all need to leave without him and helia just
-when the trix are pretending to play nice with the specialists and darcy straight up asks helia why he's so quiet and he just stares ahead not responding. like babe it's chill at least say hi or something 😭
-oh obviously the entire issue with flora's birthday and helia surprising her!! it was so cute!!
-oh that time when helia's been out of red fountain for months then chases some guy down cause they think he was the one who hurt saladin and when they catch the dude helia literally holds up a piece of wood fully intending to bash the guy in. sky and brandon say nothing either like they're fully on board. good for them i guess
-honestly, the entire shaab stone arc is so good and it reveals so much about him as a person. im love him.
-ah shit i think it's the same issue where the trix are pretending to be nice and they try to drown the winx but there are two specific panels with the specialists and in one helia and timmy are behind just walking and in the other he's talking to riven and they're smiling and i think i'm gonna cry. it's the closeness means besties thing...
-oh dude.. there's so much... like bigger things and little moments... that one time in the comics after he leaves rf and he thinks he was being egotistical for wanting to be a better specialist? and flora's just like,, bro.. are you dumb...
-oh OH one of my absolute favorite helia moments. this might take the cake actually. it's during the same arc from the previous point; he left rf cause he made a mistake and didn't feel like he deserved to be a specialist. he's going through some shit and realizes that even though he's relatively successful as an artist and "proved himself" capable that he isn't happy but he can't figure out why. then yadda yadda stuff happens and he realizes that he's happy with the specialists and winx and says and i quote "my place is with the others". others meaning them of course. he literally just out loud says they're his family and happy place in life and people still have the Audacity to say he isn't close to them. screaming.
If it's not too much trouble, I'd be super interested in the full Domino headcanons
Oh yeah sure, the Domino thing came after my personal breakdown in the tags, so it's unrelated to Winx Club destroying my hopes and dreams as a kid!!!
(Jk jk.... kinda........ this show was a rollercoaster huh)
Okay this dumpster fire site did save this:
So I kinda wish that the road to a rebuilt Domino would've been bigger than ✨zing✨ Domino is back!!! And like I said, maybe it's kind of like The Legend of Korra where due to something completely unexpected, Bloom finds a way to not only rebuild Domino but also bring its people back. Kind of.
Oh boy I really hope you've watched The Legend of Korra cause if not, huge season 3 spoiler alert, but imagine people from other planets/species go to Domino to become, lemme call them Domino's cause hahahaha domino day, to become Domino's. So yeah, Domino will be rebuilt, but it won't be the same, the same way this new kind of airbenders will never be fully like the original ones, but it's the best that they can do and it's still a triumph. Now, unlike Avatar, Winx does not really have a system where people from different planets have big differences (pls go to emsartwork for a cool AU where this is a thing), but these new Domino's will work together to at least try to restore some things that were typical to the old Domino's, like traditions or holidays or dress sense whatever.
Now of course, just like in the Avatar universe, the return of a nation influences all the others, so the return of a new and upcoming Domino changes the magical universe. How do other worlds react to it? Are they interested in also rebuilding previous treaties or what not? Not only that, but the original population doesn't come back and this includes their rulers. Oritel and Marian are either dead or stuck in a sword I guess, and Daphne sees herself unfit to rule as a spirit (cause ya know fuck season 5 she's not coming back to life).
This leaves Bloom. Will Bloom become a queen and reinstall the monarchy? Does that affect her possible marriage with the future king of Eraklyeon? Can she make claim, since she technically is just as clueless about Domino heritage as the other new Domino's? Does Bloom want to rule, or will she take the Wu route (another Korra reference) and abolish the monarchy all together?
TL;DR: There is no clear end to this story, but I just think it'd be really interesting if the rebuilding of Domino were something difficult, long, tedious, but also hopeful and optimistic. It will be hard and it will never be what it used to be, but it will be good, and Bloom will fight for it.
You're right about Musa and Flora canonically getting the best grades!
"You always complain the loudest, and in the end who gets the best marks? Musa and Flora" -Bloom in 1x15 (in case you wanted the exact quote lmao)
Exactly! I couldn’t even remember which season it was said in so thank you.
In my experience, those who complain and worry the most about their grades are usually those who do the best so it’s nice to know it applies to the Winx too.
You've talked before about how you picture TimKonCassie playing out before the reboot, I was wondering if you had any ideas or prefferences for how you'd like to see it happen with the current YJ run in mind?
I must admit, it’s not a lot different from how I saw it happening pre-Reboot, just without a lot of the specific details. I do have this delicious fantasy scenario where it plays out as a subplot over the course of several story arcs.
First, Cassie and Kon kiss impulsively and it makes things awkward between them. Then Cassie and Tim kiss impulsively and it makes things awkward between them. And then Kon and Tim find out they both kissed Cassie and it makes things awkward between all three of them, with Bart as the glue that helps keep the core team together.
So it goes like that for a while until Cassie finally has enough and asks Tim and Kon to meet her somewhere private, like maybe her dorm room/apartment. At which point she sits them both down and demands that they all clear the air between them, because they all love each other too much to risk ruining it with all this awkward.
And then she drops the bomb: “I love you. Both of you. And I want you. Both of you.”
“I’ve seen how you two look at each other. We can make this work, the three of us. Together.”
Tim and Kon glance at each other. Like they’ve never considered this before, aren’t certain whether it’s allowed. Then Kon sighs. “I’m not saying you’re wrong, Cassie. But let me try something first.”
He kisses Tim. It’s awkward, at first. Neither of them has seriously kissed a guy before. But soon enough they both melt, and it feels so right. When they finally pull apart there’s another moment of staring before Kon finally asks, “Okay?”
Tim sighs, relaxing for the first time in ages. It feels right. “Okay.”
Cassie pulls them both in for a hug on the bed. They’re all holding each other, and holding hands. “Okay.”
And then you see the title of the issue, and it’s Trinity.
—
(Afterwards/next issue there’s a scene where Bart bursts in and sees the three of them all being affectionate together and he winds up being the first person they come out to. They’re all on-edge, clearly worried that he might take it badly, and at first that seems to be the case.
“If you three are together now, that means that I’m…I’m…”
“Oh Bart, it’s not that we don’t–” “It’s not like that, really–” “We still love you, buddy–!”
“…now I’m EVERYBODY’S FIRST BEST FRIEND!! 🤩🤩🤩”
The Trinity cracks up, and Bart gets to be the center of a group hug.)

wavebiders replied to your post “but really tho if I go to a drama post and a person involved is a...”
Wait, people have issues with ashley now? Wtf why?
People have issues with Yasha being in the art reel or Yasha art winning fanart of the week apparently. In this case it is less about Ashley and more about Yasha, I would suppose - but the people involved are specifically saying shitty things about Liam himself so I can only assume they also dislike Ashley herself. Why else would you be annoyed that someone who finally returned is getting attention now that she’s back?
For unpopular opinions, and since I think you talked about Daphne recently: Domino/Oritel and Marian also should not have been brought back or their return should have at least come with more conflict
I agree about Oritel and Marian. As a general rule, I think dead people should stay dead because once you have them coming back to life, death just becomes meaningless in universe. I did like Domino being brought back at the end of Bloom's journey (we see her s1 exam being focused on bringing life back to dead planets, and specifically on Domino and a lot of her story is focused around her learning about her family and past) and I think it could be very emotionally powerful to see her reconcile her lost family and bringing life back to her home world at the end. Especially if that's how she gains her Enchantix. Unfortunately... that's not what happens and it's disappointing. It's ridiculous that there are zero repercussions for a dead planet and its royalty and government being brought back.
