This was his first time seeing her since she was a child, and he was barely out of school. She had never seen him, but it couldn’t be that way any more. He still needed to find the boy, and she was the only link beyond the servant - who had disappeared after the trip to hide Corvus. She was done with school now, and where he could speak to her without having to worry about her father getting in his way - not that he cared about her, but the man would care about Yusuf trying to get information from her.

Two in the morning.

Two in the morning and here he was, pacing the kitchen floor as quietly as he could, hair askew from all the times he’d pushed his hand through it in the last half hour since he’d rolled silently out of bed and come downstairs. Sighing, he paused to look out the window, although there wasn’t much to see except the night sky, stars twinkling as normal.

The nightmare hadn’t been pleasant. Really, it was a wonder that he hadn’t woken Leta thanks to it; he was relatively sure he had probably been thrashing and making some noise. It had been years since the war, and yet there were still times when he closed his eyes and it was the only thing he could see, like it was painted on the backs of his lids.

Theseus had to do it. He saw the flower and he couldn’t help himself. It was perfect and beautiful, just like his wife-to-be. He stopped for a moment, reaching out to pluck the flower from the plant and place it in Leta’s hair. “Hold on just a sec...” he said softly, fixing it so it sat nicely and accented in her hair rather than looking absolutely silly. No, it only succeeded in making Leta look all the more radiant, along with the blush he could see through her dark skin. She was absolutely stunning and he was such a lucky man to have her in his life.

“Leta,” he shook his head, “I did this because I wanted to accent your beauty with another. Though, I must say, yours is still superior.” He was intentionally trying to make her blush more now. He always loved seeing her flustered like this. He offered his arm back out to her for her to take as they continued to walk. “It really does look lovely in your hair though..”

His back pressed against the wall, Credence’s dark eyes meet hers only briefly.

It had been a week or so since Queenie had arrived at Nurmengard. She’d been given time to adjust and time to consider. Then she’d been given her assignment. Get as much information from the prisoners she could. Either verbally, or with her...gift.
