GODSPEED DO YOUR BEST I BELIEVE IN YOU
thank you all!! despite a couple of screwups that we managed to save*, the first two shows went well and had nice big audiences! the kids really loved it and were so excited to meet us afterwards. even if the two reviewers who came nitpicked a couple of points to the writer and producer in person. I'm feeling way better about it now, both lines-wise (which has been my main worry coming into it so late) and not corpsing-wise (I. kind of corpsed hideously in a Very Serious Scene in our second to last rehearsal).
* so there's a bit in the start of the show where we invite kids to try and pull the sword from the stone. in the first show, the sword wasn't stuck in properly so the first kid managed to pull it out - I BSed about how the prophecy foretold someone older and then held onto the sword when the other kids tried. and then in the second show (of course the one with reviewers), I jumped past a chunk of fairly expositiony dialogue but luckily our Arthur managed to pull it back to where I was supposed to be.
