Warrior
I hold onto thin air so it doesnât vanish. I grip the hem of the mannequinâs dress so it doesnât break. I suppress my breaths so they donât cut. I hide my guns so I donât shoot you out on the open road. Oh, why isnât it enough? What a misfortune for someone who doesnât believe in luck. I tried to eradicate the poison of your brain but my strength just wasnât enough to kill the toxin. Donât die out into your own perceptions. My Native American, youâre a warrior. Not limp. Not weak. Youâre not the enemy. Youâre my miracle. Columbus discovered this land as I discovered your marks. I saw every inch of you. And loved every part of it. Â Oh, how we wish hurricanes didnât exist. Please donât hit our home, we pleaded. But probabilities smacked our faces and now here we are. Underwater. Please donât let me go. Donât leave me. I love you. And I wonât let you go. I wonât leave. I love you, my Native American. My warrior.
The shy, quiet plead
Is it this brain or the rails do exist? Is the train as far as my watch says it is? I paint on the gray canvas because I may be overreacting. I hide the hammer and nails because I canât let you see me so uncertain. No, Iâm not faking. Iâm not pretending. Iâm still butter. Melting at the hot knifeâs blade. Is the train faking? Is the knife pretending? No more lines. No more Picasso. No more MirĂł. Let me make it out. Let me know now. Or make an effort.
He's my rock
Whenever snow falls behind my window I think of the color that embraces his skin. Whenever I watch the wood of my perfectly oaky desk, I remember the color that fulfills his wheel. I picture his chocolate cascade before my head hits the cloud. I recall his particular song every time I take a breath. Â He tied me ropes in the night. Hugged me before I could wake up. Immobilized my frame so I wouldnât get up. And I didnât complain, not once.
We were both in the battlefield. Our scars match. We both saw the tunnel light. We were in different tunnels. We met halfway. And weâre figuring out our way. The way out of this darkness. He pulls me. I pull him. He cries. I cry. He loves. I love. He laughs. I laugh. And he hates. But I keep on loving.
 Heâs my rock.Â
