Today more than ever it is the task of Marxist critics to expose the popular equation of art and life for what it is-nothing but a mystification; what we need is a critical analysis of the unprecedented aesthetization of everyday life that took place in Western countries in the postwar era. (…) Remembering Marx's thesis that the human senses are the result of thousands of years of development, we may legitimately ask whether human sensuality itself might not undergo a qualitative change if the present manipulation of our sensual perceptions is continued over a long period of time. A Marxist theory of sensuality and fantasy under late capitalism must be developed, and this theory should provide an impulse to change everyday life. – Huyssen, 1975 (in The Cultural Politics of Pop: Reception and Critique of US Pop Art in the Federal Republic of Germany)

Aglow seems the right descriptor for how I tend to feel after taking in the synthy, edgy R&B pop and electro that WARHOLA serves up on his songs. It’s only rational that his new song might be named Glow. Perhaps I’m appropriating it too much to serve my own purposes, but the Belgian project sends me into a swooning spin with the sultry, steamy new cut, rife with buttery smooth crooning and dark, lustful heat. Singer songwriter and producer Oliver Symons makes a rousing comeback after his 2018 album Promise with a seductive and sensuous first song of the year, melding the lush, cinematic libido of The Weeknd with the sexy prowl of Justin Timberlake. The sizzle is extra strong with this one. You can literally feel the electricity in the air, and the passion & desire coursing through its throbbing beats. If this song had eyes, you’d lock eyes with it. You can snag WARHOLA’s latest torrid alluring song, here.
