Hi, Warframe nerds!
By now, you've probably seen the white sun that is so synonymous with Tau. As the release date rolls around and we all take our collective nose dive into every detail of lore about the new system set to drop in 2026, I thought that I might take the time to help my fellow theorists and nerds out with a bit of a gloss through something I've not seen many people talk about:
The Tau system appears to be in the orbit of a White Dwarf.
This is such an important detail, and like I said, I feel like no one is talking about it. So, if you can't find it, make it.
To help make sense of why the Tau star is so important, I'm going to info-dump about what a Dwarf star is. I'm also gonna make it easy for myself and only cover two types of Dwarf Stars, Red and White Dwarfs.
Though the definition varies, a Red Dwarf is basically the smallest type of star. They have low luminosity, so that means that they are almost impossible to spot with the naked eye. They also have a longer life span than other stars, estimated to live for over TRILLIONS of years. Our universe is on 13.6 billion years old. To give you an idea of what that means, if a Red Dwarf were to be born right bow as you're reading this, in its lifetime it will see:
Saturn's rings dissolve
The destruction of most of our solar system thanks to our sun
The Milky Way-Andromeda Galaxy collision
Now, a White Dwarf- NOT THE SAME AS A BLUE DWARF- is what happens when a star sheds its outer layers (dies) and reveals it inner core. These stars are extremely dense and are only about the size of Earth. Despite their density, no nuclear fusion occurs in a White Dwarf; any light that it gives off comes from residual heat. Over time, as that heat fades away and the star begins to finally cool, it will crystalize into a Black Dwarf, the final stage of a stars life cycle.
If you want more information on Dwarf Stars, I highly recommend looking at the NASA website or having a look at what Astro Alaxandra and other science communicators have out there :)
I really do hope that this helps someone make a bit more sense of Tau and just how cool these lil details are.
... I uh made them match cuz all all the cutest couples wear matching outfits... right?
Ah yes. A Milf, a Dilf, a punk kid and David Bowie walk into a mall.
Is it a pun or just a warframe update? It is indeed a Warframe update.
