“What was that?” Myrna asked with a frown. The sound of shattering pottery echoed in the quiet Necropolis halls.
Manfred hissed gleefully at Warde. Warde was bigger, and he wore only heavy boots and an ancient shield on his back. They shuffled about in the broken pottery shards briefly. The two hissed at each other again, then Warde turned to the quiet but curious Assan. Warde grabbed Assan’s feathers and hauled himself up onto the young griffon’s back. Assan gave a happy squawk and responded by bounding animatedly down the hallway. Manfred cheered.
“The humblest of creatures,” Vorgoth intoned calmly.
