Warby Parker has launched the Pupils Project Collection, a limited-edition assortment of sunglasses and eyeglasses that helps to promote free vision screenings, eye exams, and glasses to schoolchildren in need. To build the collection, the brand worked alongside 10 collaborators, all New Yorkers whose inexhaustible creativity has shaped the city and beyond in innumerable ways.
Rosario Dawson, Lena Dunham, Nikolai Fraiture, Iman, Fran Lebowitz, Humberto Leon, Mary-Louise Parker, Chloë Sevigny, Gloria Steinem, and Michael K. Williams each co-designed a pair of frames that speak to their personal aesthetic and their unwavering love of New York. The collection illustrates the brand’s unique position and ability to make an impact while bringing together some of New York’s most creative talent. One hundred percent of every purchase will support Pupils Project, allowing the brand and its partners to reach more students.
“It’s been incredible getting Pupils Project off the ground in the place where I grew up and went to school, and now where I’m raising my kids. We’re honored that so many compelling talents support the essential work and growth of Pupils Project,” said co-founder and co-CEO Neil Blumenthal. “There’s nothing like watching these students, many of whom are getting their first pair of glasses, finally see the board clearly. We know there’s still a long way to go, but our optimism about what’s next for Pupils Project is unmatched,” added co-founder and co-CEO Dave Gilboa.
While the program helps students get their own kid-suitable glasses, the collection is comprised of adult-sized frames, each tucked inside specialty packaging (inspired by that classroom staple, the composition notebook) and accompanied by a lens cloth featuring the signature of the frame’s corresponding collaborator. There’s an element of the collaborator’s spirit in each pair—and a shape, material, and color for everyone.
To help celebrate the launch, Public School is creating some limited-edition goodies, available only at Warby Parker’s launch event—with 100 percent of each purchase supporting Pupils Project.
