A seven years old Jewish boy Jacop, rescued from Nazis by a Greek geologist. This is the story of them and it’s not one of those many books about war. Anne Michaels is actually a poet and this is her first fiction book. GREAT NEWS!! I just accepted an offer for book I've wanted to write for ten years now. It's tentatively called DEATH STRIKE, and it's about the 2nd Battalion of the 3rd Marine Regiment during their 2006-2007 deployment to the Haditha Triad region of Iraq's Al Anbar Province. Their story, which is completely untold, is, in my opinion, one of the greatest war stories of all time. Da Capo Press will publish it. Da Capo is a great publisher and they specialize in military titles. They are an imprint of Hachette, which is one of the "Big Five" publishers in the world. Photograph I shot of my good friend Justin Bradley double checking his M16A4 before crossing a potential kill zone. The Taliban were squawking over their radios about how they were about to ambush us. We had an A-10 overhead, and then an armed predator UAS (drone), but the A-10 had to go back to Bagram and the Predator was pushed to another area of operation. So we had to cross a really wide open field with no cover! I was “armed” with only my cameras and Justin (corporal, a squad leader) kept telling me to “stay disbursed” as the enemy aims at “clumped up” people to maximize their kill effectiveness of their ambushes. I felt alone out there, even though I was just 20 feet in front of and behind a Marine! This was my first in-country field research on combat operations, and this operation started with a CH-47D Chinook! (And AH-64 Apache gunships, which I really, really wished were there for this). The CH-47D supported all types of combat operations all throughout Afghanistan, throughout Operation Enduring Freedom! It is an incredible machine!
