Catch Up With: Megzy Barker
We recently caught up with our newest Team Rider, Megzy Barker, to get the scoop on her first ever World Cup experience in Indonesia - here's what she had to say:
Breathe: What was it like finding out you'd be going to the World cup in Indonesia?
Megzy: Crazy! So exiting - only 2 weeks before the World Cup I got invited. It was so unexpected and I felt incredibly honoured.Â
Breathe: Could you describe the set up? What was the course like?
Megzy: It was such a sick set up - There were people lining up the whole way down the side of the lake. It was amazing that the start dock was at one end pulling you into a straight line hitting the flattest warmest water and cruising past the crowds.
Breathe: It was a super competitive field - were you intimidated at all?
Megzy: This was my 1st ever major competition. It was so intimidating to know I would be against some of the best riders in the world. Having nerves and feeling fear was such a help as it really motivated me and pushed me to do well.
Breathe: What was your main take-away from the whole experience?
Megzy: Meeting all the other riders and people in and out of the sport. Experiencing how the world cup works and making some life long friends will be my main memories.
Breathe: When/where will you be competing next?
Megzy: Next up for me I believe is the UK Nationals in sunny England on the 7th July.
