Iām looking forward to season 3 of ASOUE mostly because itās going to be three books Iāve read once or twice each and then one book that I think Iāve read more times than any other in the series. An adventure all around!

iām so glad the netflix show included my favorite lemony snicket monologue
Last year while I was watching The Bad Beginning for the first time I made oatmeal with boysenberries, and this year I just made alphabet soup before sitting down to watch The Hostile Hospital without even realizing. Anyway, liveblog time.
Can weā¦talk about Esmeās nurse uniform. Actually letās not.
Hal explaining the Library of Records sounds exactly like me trying to explain what I do at work at the archives. Well, all the files and documents end up here, so really itās the most important part of the college, and everything lives in a record group, and if I donāt know which record group something goes in, usually I just guess. But mostly I just look at spreadsheets. We can never let anyone unsavory near our files.
I love creepy hospital shenanigans. This is like one of those Freddyās games Iāve heard so much about.Ā
THE STILETTOS. THEYāRE SO GOOD. And that CAPE and that HAIR and those FURS.
It just said [yells in frustration] in the closed captions but Iām 90% sure Esme yelled FUCK when her shoe got stuck in the floor. New campaign platform: Let Esme Say Fuck.
This episode is legitimately scary in a way that none of the previous ones have been, which is possibly a testament to how scary hospitals are on principle and possibly a testament to how dire the series is getting.
I feel like this season is doing so much better justice to Violet than the last one. Season one definitely did better than the movie (nothing could be worse than the movie oh my GOD) but I still kind of felt like Violet was playing second fiddle to Klaus. That might also be because in the first few books the kids had very little agency in the world and Klaus was way more prone to emotional outbursts while a lot of Violetās character was established in narration.Ā
I gotta wonder ifĀ āyou look awfully young to be a doctorā is a sly reference to Doogie Howser. I just gotta wonder.
Okay Vile Village liveblog, this is my second favorite book and my favorite one filmed so far so the stakes here are very, very high.
I love the DESIGN of the town wow. Iām easily suggestible and Iāve always imagined VFD to be very gray because the spine of the book was gray, but I like the spots of color. And the kidsā costumes! So cute! Violetās dress! Klausā little cowboy jacket!
I never pictured this one as a western, but I love westerns, so Iām pleased anyway.
I relate to Hector because I also have anxiety and a barnful of secrets.
Isadoraās handwriting is soooooo, like, 13 year old girl handwriting, and I mean that with all the fondness and nostalgia that there is in my body.
My low-level animosity towards Nathan Fillion has evolved intoĀ āI canāt wait for Jacques to die.ā Heās like if a classic Hollywood leading man was sold as Hot Topic. Like a store brand Marlon Brando. Marlon Store Brando.
Violet Baudelaire is such a baby butch and Iām so proud of her.
āSweet and fruity doesnāt count as teaā jacques snicket delete your account
I turned on captions to see if theyād changed Detective Dupinās name to Detective DuPont or if thatās just how Dupin is pronounced, just in time to seeĀ āYouāre [scats] right, you moldy oldies.āĀ
Baudelaires: are in jail Me: immediately starts crying
KLAUS BAUDELAIRE IS MY SPECIAL LITTLE GUY AND IāM SO PROUD OF HIM
When people on TV pronounce something different than you pronounced it in your head when you read the books:
I LOVE THESE KIDS!!!
I legitimately bark-laughed out loud atĀ āThey go up so fast.ā
WHAT a mid-season finale that was!!Ā
Asoue liveblog!!

ASOUE Week Day 6: Favorite Costume
The story of this is that when I readĀ āfavorite costumeā I assumed that meant TV costume that actors wear. After I already hunted down the right scenes from TBB and TRR to take screenshots of, edited the screenshots, realized I hated my edits, fixed it, and saved a custom adjustment shortcut calledĀ āMisery Pajamasā in Analog Efex Pro, I realized that this prompt was referring to, like, Captain Sham or Chabo the Wolf Baby. I wasnāt willing to abandon Misery Pajamasābecause these pajama sets are so goodābut I did redo the prompt. Anyway, the pics from my Detective Dupin/Officer Luciana post from early today used the same adjustment shortcut, but this was my first pass at it.
ASOUE Week Day 5: Favorite Quote
Trouble and strife can cover this world like the dark of night, or like smoke from a suspicious fire, and when that happens, all good, true, and decent people know that itās time to volunteer.
ASOUE Week!
Yāall, Iām so excited to start ASOUE Week tomorrow. So excited, even, that I made a landing page for the edits I made:
