his expressions are always 8000x funnier in my boards… i wish i could convey the pure raw emotion in finals that i do in my drafts 😭💦

Omg your game maps are so cool, how do you get your tilesets so pretty? Or do you use parallax mapping?
They are parallax maps, with transparent tiles to limit the walking areas. The game is pretty small in scope so I think it shouldn’t cause lag. I’ll go over the process badly, as quick as I can!
Pretty much I set down the basic outline
Then get the basic shading and colours down.
I’m still using the pencil so it works in pixels, but the use of lower opacity let’s me approach like I would painting. The butterfly looking icon on the right mirrors the brush strokes based on where it’s placed so I really only did half the work on this one.
I’m also working at about half the size the final version will be, and upping the size (Making sure the resample is set to nearest neighbor). I think if I didn’t do this it might look like too much of a mess of pixels, and wouldn’t match the characters.
It’s mainly just about colour choice, this process can make it look muddy so you just have to work keeping that in mind. But again I have no idea what I’m really doing here, and am just trying to make the skills I have work in the new format.

it was years ago at this point & i was far too shy to get SUPER into it, but i played a couple different servers and i loved goofing around as the chef, I did OK as a surgeon and I tried chemist a few times but just ended up blowing myself to smithereens more than once lmao
honestly one day I’d like to return to it and attempt to join a high-RP server if I ever find my writing muse again, but they seem to have so many rules that it’s intimidating and they don’t let you play an alien without an application more often than not :( regardless the game itself is amazing and deserves a bigger userbase
