Vyrilli Story of Origins
this is basically a religious creation story of the Vyrilli and how their land and them came to be. its pretty long, sorry if readmores arent working on mobile for any of ya ;_;7
its only slightly edited at this point, i just wanna put what i got so far out there. i’ll revisit it later. I took a page outta the Elder Scrolls book and tried to write it like an in-universe text or story.
Mazishta Azdaha, the ancestor of our ancestors, God of Magic and the Vyreen Peoples, was first of all things. He is of a wisdom beyond our comprehension, and is a being of pure Divinity. When he died, as he chose, he used his death as a thing of creation. He split himself three ways: The Body, The Magic, and The Spirit.
The Body became the land. His two great wings spread out over the waters and laid out the span of the two great islands. The flesh moved under the wings and became the earth, his blood mixed with The Magic and infused the earth with His Divinity, making it one of power. His bones fused with The Magic and from the earth was born the First Ancestors. As this happened The Spirit of Mazishta Azdaha ascended and observed the new cycle of birth from land-flesh he created.
The First Ancestors were two new spirits: Kaufa and Dahyu, mostly Divine but now some of the mundane world. They were born from the Divinity that was infused within the land, divided among them while some of The Divinity stayed within the land itself, as He designed it to be. When the First Ancestors died, as Mazishta Azdaha intended to one day happen, they did as He did and split themselves three ways: The Body, The Magic, and The Spirit.
Kaufa favored the northern island and its chilly winds. When he died, he curled up within himself and his flesh became the northern mountains. his blood mixed with The Magic and infused the earth with his Divinity, making it one of power. His passing made the northern mountains rich with metals and stone.
Dahyu favored the southern island and the sun's warm rays. When she died, she splayed out across the plains and her flesh became the southern rolling hills. her blood mixed with The Magic and infused the earth with her Divinity, making it one of power. Her passing made the southern plains fertile and lush.
Their bones fused with The Magic and from the earth was born the Second Ancestors. As this happened the spirits of Kaufa and Dahyu ascended and joined the spirit of Mazishta Azdaha in observing the continuation of the cycle of birth from land-flesh. Each also paying special attention to the island they favored.
The Second Ancestors numbered four new spirits: Brazmaniya, Tunuvat, Drauga, and Jatar. Still they were mostly Divine, but now more of the mundane world than the First Ancestors. They were born from the Divinity that was infused within the land, divided among them while some of The Divinity stayed within the land itself, as He designed it to be.
Brazmaniya was the ancestor who first truly realized the purpose of the cycle of birth from death. He saw the pattern of the division of The Divinity and came to learn of Mazishta Azdaha's vision of beauty from Divinity equally shared among many things.
When Brazmaniya shared this with the others; Tunuvat was saddened by how his time was unavoidably limited, but celebrated his power and what he could do while he still possessed life.
Drauga lamented this design and wished for their life to be longer. Her longing turned dark and she eventually plotted to thwart the proper distribution of Divinity, but was stopped by her righteous brother Jatar.
Jatar had watched his sister's despair grow but didn't act, for it didn't affect him and so he felt he had no reason to intervene. As he witnessed his sister stray further from reasonable ambition to foul deeds he realized he was wrong to stand idly by and let a foul thing fester in his sister. As he combated her with newly realized wisdom, he lamented the folly of previous inaction.
Each of the Second Ancestors, through their actions, created one of the Four Quadrants of The Conscious Individual. These Quadrants are complex, and their interplay even more-so, which is why every individual is complex and filled with internal desires and conflicts.
Brazmaniya created the Thinking Mind. During one night of intense thought Brazmaniya lit himself a fire to keep himself warm. Brazmaniya took note of how the flickering light batted away the darkness and shed light on what was once shrouded. He realized that the fire illuminating the dark of night was not unlike how he was revealing truths once hidden by ignorance, and this inspiration was followed by his realization of their purpose. It was then that he discovered the value of higher thought, and from then on he maintained this fire in dedication to Mazishta Azdaha and the importance of knowledge. And thus he also created the Eternal Flame that still burns to this day.
Tunuvat created the Mortal Joy. When he learned of their temporary nature, he was saddened and how life on the earth was limited. He resolved to enjoy that limited time, and find joy in the experience of living. While the inevitability of death was still a thing he lamented, he treasured all he was able to do as a thing that was alive.
Drauga created the Driving Ambition. Her pursuit of a longer life was a good thing, at first, for it led to the creation of the desire for something that must be worked for, and the motivation to work for it. However, because her ambition was left unchecked by both herself and the other ancestors, she crossed the line from just, moral ambition to cruelty and greed. And thus she also created the darker limits of our own ambitions that we must strive to avoid.
Jatar created the Righteous Desire. When he witnessed his beloved sister go too far he rose up to act against her, even though he could have done nothing without losing anything. He rose up and acted for he knew it was the right thing to do. However, he let his sister get to the point of evil actions because of his own lack of action, because he felt he didn't have to, nor should, intervene. Because of this, the pursuit of justice is a heavy weight to carry and we may be inclined to apathy towards the plight of others. This apathy is a regretful thing we must fight against to be a good, righteous people.
When the end of the Second Ancestors came they did as Mazishta Azdaha and the First ancestors did and split themselves three ways: The Body, The Magic, and The Spirit. Their flesh became the land and their blood mixed with The Magic and infused the land with their Divinity, making it one of power. Their bones fused with The Magic and the first generation of Lesser Ancestors, the Vyri, were born from land-flesh. As this happened the spirits of the Second Ancestors ascended to join those of Mazishta Azdaha and the First Ancestors.
The cycle of birth from land-flesh continued as the even distribution of Divinity doubly shared was mixed with the earth again and again. As the Vyri numbers doubled and doubled through the years as the Divinity was shared and shared again that they slowly became more mundane and less Divine. It took hundreds of years until the Vyri because numerous enough, and enough of Divinity had fused forever with the land, that equilibrium was reached at last. It was then that the cycle of birth from land-flesh came to an end, for from that last generation of Vyri rose a people who were equal parts the great Mazishta Azdaha's now widely shared Divinity and of the mundane world.
That when His plan of creation was finished and we came to be: the Vyrilli. We have a natural gift for the use of magic and communion with the spirits of our ancestors, and yet we do not reproduce through a cycle of death followed by birth. We reproduce as all other creatures do, but we are set apart by the small embers of Divinity that burn within each of us.
We do not know the purpose of our creation. How could we comprehend the machinations of the God of Magic? It does not matter for what reason we where made to live. All that matters is that we do exist because of the will of Mazishta Azdaha, and that we are who we are because of the actions of the ancestors. They hear our prayers and consult us when troubled. They have shared with us the ways to live a good, moral life. And they have made our homeland with their very being. Great praise and reverence for Mazishta Azdaha, our creator! Praise and remembrance to the Ancestors, Greater and Lesser! Never forget our roots, now and future generations of Vyrilli, for we are because they were.
