5) first headcanon that pops into my head: if vlogging/social media still exists sulu 100% does popular makeup with uhura and gardening vlogs detailing the lives of gertrude + the other plants in the botany lab

6) favourite line from this character: I love the classic “don’t call me tiny” line and also his delivery of “no 🤨” in the sassiest manner possible from the squire of gothos. also his “let the regulations be damned” speech from voyager is really neat :’)

7) one way in which I relate to this character: sulu could have a huge gardening phase one day and a fencing phase the next, I can definitely relate to that desire to learn lots of new things and also not being able to stay focused on one hobby/fixation for too long

8) thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: the fact that the showrunners were like oohooo let’s make sulu a ~samurai~ in the naked time and thankfully george takei took it upon himself to learn how to fence in like 3 days in order to avoid the blatant stereotype. I think they also have a samurai chase him in the shore leave episode because.....apparently they want us to believe he casually thinks about samurai in his spare time.
