FRACTION FUN
This past week was amazing, I have really started to develop close relationships with my students. I taught a lesson on dividing fractions. I was able to present and teach it in any way I wanted to. So, I chose to use the promethean board. I opened Inspire and typed the name of the lesson and the objective. I asked the class questions to see what previous knowledge they had on the lesson. This way, I was able to skip over what the students knew and focus on where they needed more practice and stress those areas. I set up the notes into two sides. One side was textual and the other side was a visual. I explained on the left how to solve a problem; On the right side I demonstrated step by step with an actual problem. I think this teaching strategy was effective to students who learn differently.
Take in appreciation and put out dedication!
Student: Good morning Ms. Wolf, how are you?
Me: Wonderful, how are you?
Student: Great!
Little things can brighten anyone’s day. Attitudes can change someone’s day. This particular student has loss her electricity. This has been off for over two weeks now. Her father is not present and her mom is unable to pay off the recent bills for the electricity. The school has given her food and my cooperating teacher has given her family flashlights and firewood. Through all of this stress and anxiety, this student has managed to not only keep up in class but have one of the best attitudes ever. She greets me everyday and everytime I leave class. She is courteous and so sweet. She appreciates what I bring to the classroom and I will dedicate more knowing that.

Internship Over ?!
This internship has flown by so quickly. I had an amazing last week and cannot wait to come back and see my students sometime soon. I know they will kill it on their SOL. This week was fun, we finished up with the quadratic formula, learned how to use the formula sheet and took a practice SOL. My students loved my cookies; However, They were pretty disappointed when they found out it was my last day. I have truly learned so much through this internship and cannot wait to start a new chapter but not sure if I am ready to close this one….

Cramming & Jamming
Last week, Mrs. Newell finished teaching the last few things to prepare the student’s for SOL Review this week. We learned curve of best fit and how to use the quadratic formula. On Thursday, the students took their last test and I prepped for my last day being able to teach. I went over the warm up and the test review as well. It is crazy to think that this week is the last week of my internship. I enjoy talking to my fellow classmates about our internships. Some may think that this was a bad experience for me considering I did not get as much hands on experience as them; However, this is not true. I really have learned a lot through this class and I got to see the class outside of the box and see the students grow. Mrs. Newell has such an amazing grasp on her student’s attention and you can really see that almost all the kids in the class have very limited problems or struggles. She is assured that they will all perform very well on this SOL. I am very impressed with my students and I cannot wait to give them the goodie bags I am making them. I am making chocolate chip cookies with a tag that says “I know you will get a sweet score on your SOL!” There is only one students that I am concerned with. He switched into Mrs. Newell’s class last week from Independence Middle School. His score on this upcoming SOL displays Mrs. Newell’s job at preparing the students. Even though, Eric has only had her for two weeks before the SOL. Eric has been working very hard in the classroom and I believe he will pass. Mrs. Newell is having a boot camp for the SOL to fill in any holes students may have. As this adventure is coming to an end, Make sure to keep up with thegreatadventuresofmalpal! :)
