A short creative non-fiction story
Open in app or online
For the month of May I’m taking a break from posting new content to the blog and instead bringing you archived posts. I chose ones that may be of the greatest benefit at this point in time.
I originally published this week’s piece in October of 2017. The political landscape has changed so much in just a few years, and yet most political parties still don’t have anything meaningful to say about the ongoing impact of colonialism.
I often dream of what society would look like if we genuinely believed housing, food, clean water, and healthcare were human rights.
I have heard from a few voters that they are standing in a long line at their polling place for the first time ever. That means turnout is high which is great!
A few quick tips if this hasn’t happened to you before:
STAY IN LINE! You will be allowed to vote as long as you are in line before polls close.
Call 1-866-OUR-VOTE if you experience voter intimidation, like someone trying to tell you to leave the line or that you will not be able to vote.
If you are standing in a LONG line, call Pizza to the Polls and they will bring you pizza and joy.
Call a friend! Read Twitter anxiously! Listen to a podcast! Hang in there and stay in line until you vote.
And finally, if you get to the polls and they say you aren’t registered but you know you are, don’t get discouraged! Ask for a provisional ballot. If you’re not sure what to do, call the hotline above.

Fundraising update
Thank you so much. With your donations I was able to pat R3900 towards April's bill. With the other small jobs we were able to do, April 2019 is paid. And with the payments, Landlady was willing to cancel the eviction process.
We're not out of the woods yet but the sky is visible. Thank you for signal boosting and your donations and your very kind wishes. You helped us stay warm and dry with winter approaching. Thank you.

If you live in the US you must vote today! No excuses, it is your duty. We need you!
The Fashion Industry Wants You to Vote
Today’s the day. Thousands, if not millions, of Americans will make their way to the polls to cast their vote in the midterm elections.
Not to be dramatic, but the future lies in our hands. It’s up to us to make a change—and we’re not the only ones who feel this way. According to Politico, more than 36 million voters cast their ballots ahead of Election Day this year, surpassing 2014’s early voter poll stats by 8.8 million. If anything, these numbers prove that this election is unique. Read more...
A Gaurdian reporter asks a question on healthcare and this peice of shit bodyslams him. The gross thing is, this probably helped his chances in my state for attacking the "fake media."
