There’s a whole lotta voting going on

An Illinois voter inserts his absentee ballot envelope into a locked ballot drop-off box. Boxes are emptied every night to keep absentee ballots secure. On this particular day of early voting, the container was completely filled by noon.

Disability + voting: Election judge #3 told me repeatedly told me I'd have to pull around and use the special [unplugged] voting machine. Judges 2, 4, and 5 all chimed in with their version of "I don't know how to work that thing, do you?" And so on- Til I tell them I'm fine with a normal ballot and can fill out bubbles. Course, there's no accessible height booth either, so again I'm voting alongside some coffee cakes.

There was something in judge 3's demeanor and intonation that put me off of chiming in right away and asking for the normal form... more of an assuming "oh boy, here we go" instead of trying to be helpful about the situation.
