as someone who makes vore content for mínecraft adjacent fandoms, it is interesting to consider it in that setting...
while death is temporary, that doesn’t mean it’s encouraged in most circumstances. it hurts sometimes, and can be an inconvenience, if your bed is obstructed, it’s between servers, etc.
in that vain, vore isn’t *unheard* of, it’s just taboo. you’ll hear about it occasionally: anarchy servers where it’s normalized, the occasional evil admin punishing a player, hybrid players with more of a taste for people. but it’s still not normal.
so when there are players who develop into preds, it’s definitely something to be gawked at. or hide if you’re not one. being eaten isn’t exactly pleasant. unless you’re one of those freaks who’s into that, because they definitely exist as well.
it’s more common than people realize, though. maybe it’s the natural survival instinct. but every server has some preds about. maybe they keep it secret, maybe they resist the urges. and every couple servers, someone read some old tale about a hungry player that awakened something in them. or was targeted by a pred themselves and liked it.
or maybe people do realize it! but no one’s gonna be the one to admit they’re one or the other. so it just hangs over the air, an unspoken strangeness to the world
