“Hot — hot!” Hand and shirt dripping, Shi recoils half a step back out of reflex before planting his feet firmly on the ground — nearly slips on the freshly-brewed tea, too — afraid that he might bump into another person and start a messy chain reaction. Judging from his ears, the coffee shop’s fairly small and busy — probably why he couldn’t detect the person who bumped into him before they actually bumped into him.
“Sorry! Are you okay?” Shi fumbles with the leash in his dry hand, turning his head in the general direction of his guide dog. “It didn’t get on her, right?”
Sakura should have just stayed in bed.
Standing there in absolute horror at what she’d done -- he was blind! You spilled coffee on a blind man! -- she almost thought it couldn’t get worse. And then the man she poured hot coffee all over wanted to check on her. Oh, could the earth open up and swallow her please? Just her luck to cause a fiasco on her day off.
“I’m so, so sorry!” Looking back and motioning for help from her coworkers, Sakura immediately set out to try and help clean the poor man off, words spewing from her mouth in a hurried rush of concern. “Are you okay? Is your dog okay? Please, let me get you a seat. Do you need another shirt?”
