Sketchpad Artist: Aliyah Hussain
Aliyah Hussain is one of the 11 artists we asked to design a limited edition cover for our new Sketchpad range. Based in Manchester, Aliyah is a visual artist and one third of the Volkov Commanders. Her work ranges from printmaking and photography to performance and explores utopian, ritualistic and futuristic themes.

Earlier this year I made a costume for the Volkov Commanders' Costume Orchestra at Sounds From The Other City Festival. Some shots from the Master/Slave Invigilator System, in action on the streets of Manchester as part of Abandon Normal Devices Festival (September 28th-31st 2012)
For the last couple of months, we have been working steadily with New Media artist Jeremy Bailey's Master/Slave Invigilator System and things are finally, as you can see, coming together.Â
The piece which will be fully installed with live human slave, will be planted in Manchester galleries, focused around its hub of the Cornerhouse from Wednesday 29th August, until Friday 31st of August.
There will be a live performance with the piece during the AND festival Right to RULE, closing party.
